Located in Mbunga Community in the Rwenzori Mountains, Mbunga campsite offers accommodation in traditionally built bandas, and offers views of the Rwenzori Mountains.
The staff was super nice and welcoming. We attended the community campfire with the locals (absulotely recommended, it`s done every beginning, middle and end of a month) where we learned a lot about the community, their tribe, rituals and culture. You can also do a community walk to see more of the beautiful landscape and get to know better how life in the community works. The food in the restaurant was amazing and the portions are huge. Mbunga Campsite is the perfect place to get some rest, gain some energy and enjoy the nature, since it is placed in the heart of the Rwenzori Mountains. The views from everywhere are spectacular. I would very much recommend to stay here!

Location to QE national park was perfect and allowed us to pass by the equator line on each visit which was nice. The standout part of this was the man in charge, Alfred. He was extremely knowledgeable of the area, booked all our trips, at short notice and was happy to help qith anything and share his experiences of Uganda. Dinner was always well prepared with 3 courses and breakfast even packed when we left early in the morning for activities.

Set in Kasese, 25km from Katunguru, Kasenyi Lake Retreat & Campsite offers accommodation. The lodge is set on the shores of Lake George inside Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Guests can also come to the campsite with their own tents or camping car and enjoy the facilities and services offered by the property.
It was a bit off the beaten track but right next to Lake George. Hippos were wandering around and grunting while we were dining outside, and the food was really good. They wash their vegetables in filtered water. Carol, the manager, was awesome-really nice and attentive to anything we needed, within her ability to help. The rooms are individual huts- basic but clean enough. Water pressure in our room was weak but we didn’t take showers. The electrical outlets in the rooms didn’t work but we found out later that we should have asked Carol and they just needed to restart the inverter (?) We had a beautiful evening sitting around a campfire after dinner, watching the moon over the water and listening to the hippos and night noises. For a really nice budget accommodation run by great people we highly recommend the Kasenyi Lake retreat and campsites.
