The place is magical. Hidden in the forest, with beautiful river. Our room was spacious, with tatami floor and small private garden with hot bathtube. Meals were delicious. Staff was very helpfull and friendly. It was perfect stay.

Half board which was offered by the facility is absolute must try the Kaiseki and shabu shabu which was served for dinner was truly an experience. Even the breakfast was truly amazing. The hotel is located next to scenic hiking trails and beautiful temples. The onsen to was amazing!!!

A 10-minute drive from Kinkaku-ji Temple, Ryokan Yamazaki offers a hot public bath and serves breakfast and traditional dinners for an additional fee. I was traveling together with a friend and she preferred to book a place a bit outside of the city. The place is still very accessible by bus (stop is almost in front of the house), or even the tram if (you don’t mind a 15 minutes walk). The staff was very kind and welcoming and you will easily get along with English, if you don’t speak Japanese. The rooms were tidy and comfortable and would also recommend to take the Japanese breakfast in the house. Cannot judge the dinner since we usually returned late and ate somewhere else. Highly recommend the ryokan!
