Mount Cook Station Shearers Quarters Lodge, hotel in Mount Cook Village

Featuring garden views, Mount Cook Station Shearers Quarters Lodge in Lake Tekapo features accommodation, a garden, barbecue facilities and a shared lounge.

The place is lovely and in the middle of nature, the best we had on our 10 days trip on the south island. We stayed in 'Tom's hut', this is detached from the main building but right next to it. The hut is very cosy and the heating is very strong. We also really liked the common areas with the big kitchen and the fireplace with firewood. While staying there, we hiked across the farm and beyond on land that's not public to enjoy the beautiful scenery, a unique experience. Thanks Alana for being so helpful and for her kids showing us the farm animals :)

Glentanner Park Centre, hotel in Mount Cook Village

Glentanner Park is a holiday park and activity centre offering affordable accommodation and panoramic views of Aoraki Mount Cook and Mount Cook National Park.

The room was simple but nice with a comfortable bed. The heating was good as it was a very cold night. Not too far to go to the showers which when I visited was clean. Enjoyed the kitchen and dinning facilities which was inviting and with a raging fire was perfect. The view from the dining room looking up the valley to Mt. Cook is unmatched. I had a coffee from the Café from an American guy which was the best I have ever had. I'm sure it was Aimee who was a real treat at reception but all of the staff were so engaging. Give them all a nod for being top quality folks.

We did a 19 day road trip around the lower North Island, and Mount Cook Village was my favourite place to stay. Id love to go back again some time. Sadly for us due to being delayed due to issues with the interislander we only got to stay here for one night. We took an amazing scenic flight and landed on the Tasman glacier. We had the perfect day for it. The smorgasbord restaurant at the Hermitage was fantastic, one of the better smorgasbord's Ive had. I would love to come back here some day and do some of the shorter walks around the area and just to experience this majestic place once more.

Being able to see the glacier from the top part of the village. Our fantastic day trip to Lake Tasman to get close to icebergs and and the glacier at one end of the lake. (not the glacier seen from the village).

The village is located in an amazing place. If are self catering while in the village you will need to bring your supplies with you. There is very limited grocery items for sale. There is a cafe and restaurant located in the Hermitage complex. The other dining places are closed.

There is limited accommodation at Mount Cook village and it is all expensive. There are many well marked and maintained paths from the road end which allow walks off between one hour and six hours to be safely undertaken. There are no shops or independent restaurants or food outlets, unless you are self catering, you will have to eat in the expensive hotels. The most economical way to visit would be by Campervan bringing all of your supplies with you The self catering options are limited to the motel, which is in my opinion, overpriced for the accommodation it offers.

I did not like Mt Cook Village at all. Hard to get around.

I did not like Mt Cook Village at all. Hard to get around. Nowhere to buy food or snacks and restaurant closed during the day. Inflated prices. I think our experience would have been much better but unfortunately the weather was dreadful and hence we had no views and were unable to do our planned walk. All in all it was a very disappointing experience.

Comfortable, spacious room. Comfy beds, nice bathroom. Good to have a kitchen to prepare your own meals, (especially given the limited dining options at Mt Cook right now, most places are closed due to staff shortages). Make sure to grab your groceries in Twizel, there's no supermarket at Mt Cook. Much cheaper than the hotel, especially considering that you can make your own meals here.

The view of the mountains from our room was incredible. The room itself shows its age but we expected this being a historic hotel. It was very clean though. The bed was very comfortable. The cafe upstairs was nice and we really enjoyed the buffet dinner in the restaurant which also has a wonderful view of the mountainsThe staff were all very friendly and helpful.

The location is great if you're staying in Mount Cook, with it only being < 5-minute walk from the Hermitage hotel. Keep in mind though, it's important to make sure you bring your own food if you want to avoid the overpriced buffet service at the Hermitage hotel. The lodge has a kitchen space on level 2 that you can leverage to save money.

The room was on the ground floor. The common kitchen and lounge was amazing with plenty of room for multiple people preparing and eating meals. The lounge faced Aoraki and when it was clear, the view was breathtaking. Being close to the trailheads deep in the valley was fantastic. The bathroom was cozy but had a wonderful shower.

The location is within reach of the visitor centre so if you want to know more about Aoraki Mt Cook, this is the place. Head to Hermitage Hotel as there is a museum there for Sir Edmund Hillary and a planetarium that regularly has shows. These places are just a short walk from the lodge.

We stayed at the Hermitage during the Covid-19 Red Traffic Light setting. The Hermitage kept us informed of the changes made by the hotel to keep us safe during our stay. They were very efficient and very attentive. The team was friendly and helpful.

Great view for the rooms looking toward mountains. The shower was nice, modern and large. The three course dinner at the main hotel (Hermitage) was outstanding! Views from the bar before dinner was also unbeatable on a clear day

While we did have a some view of the mountains we were on a lower floor which meant that we also had to look at the roof of the restaurant. Hotel was very clean. Very good location. The front desk staff were very good.

With reservations for the star gazing tour, choose this accommodation as better priced option to the hotel. The Deluxe one bedroom suite was spacious and the separate bedroom, plus queen bed in sitting area was ideal.
