Excellent location right on the beach. Rooms had balcony and view of the beach/ocean. Rooms well appointed. Beds very comfortable. Valet parking reasonable and very convenient. Lots of restaurants within a ten minute walk to the pier or the boardwalk. Recommended.

Being surprised!
For starters, the onsite restaurant was excellent. Our wait staff was someone I would want to hire if I ran a restaurant! She represented herself, the restaurant and the kitchen with professional class and friendliness. (And I regret that I forget her name - but she more than earned her tip!)
The room? It was comfortable and very sufficient for our needs. And the bed: I booked this hotel for reviews of the hotel's beds, as my wife doesn't usually sleep well on any hotel bed. Not Paradox: she slept very well and very comfortably. ("Maybe WE should get a bed like this one??" she commented.)

The beaches are nice and easy to access.
The beaches are nice and easy to access. The wharf is a nice place to shop and eat. If you visit in the fall be sure to bring layers of clothes because it CA be chilly in the morning and evening. Shadow brook restaurant is a great place to eat. The food is delicious and the staff members are great and attentive.

I couldn’t say I would change anything in this beautiful well maintained hotel. The staff was great. The breakfast was wonderful an all the amenities were as described. I’ve stayed here a few times and was only disappointed in the higher prices and the mixup in giving our keys to other guests by mistake, and on the 2nd day of our 3 day stay, our keys were all deactivated. Thanks for the “ I’m sorry” goody bags! I would appreciate a free nite on a future stay

Lovely seaside ‘village’ vibe.
Lovely seaside ‘village’ vibe. Friendly people, beautiful scenery, quaint shops and lots of restaurants. My favorite always is Shadowbrook Restaurant and I like to stay at the Capitola Hotel whenever I can! Great area for wandering through shops and along the sea.

Capitola has a friendly and inclusive vibe. Lots of families, older folks like us, and younger couples as well. It is charming. Flowers everywhere, interesting cottage type architecture, beautiful ocean views, clean and quiet neighborhoods. Plan to return! Loved sitting on the balcony of Margaritaville: excellent food, superb views, and friendly and efficient staff. Recommend visiting Gayles, a world-class bakery, deli, and coffee shop. Short walk up the hill. Worth it to walk down the pier and watch the larger sea creatures. Check out the flip-flop shop “Slap Happy.” Must have lunch on the patio at the restaurant Shadowbrook.” A charming, multi-level restaurant perched on the river bank, accessible by funicular or stairs, with water features and gorgeous plants.PamelaUnited States - 10Scored 10

We, and my sisters and cousin, are very familiar with Capitola and have stayed in other hotels/rentals. We love the town. I did feel that the description of the room was misleading; it indicated that our room would be oceanview, but one of us had stayed in the same room before and told us that it actually faced the street. That should be clarified. It turned out to be fine anyway, but others might have been quite unhappy with the location. I forgot to mention that the only negative to the room was an odd smell when we entered - possibly mold, or maybe an unusual cleaning product? It was better after a few minutes and we would still stay there again.
