The place is absolutely amazing, very clean. Stephen, Ngala and Joseph are the best. They made us feel like we were home away from home despite it being a business trip.
The seafood meal chef Ngala prepared was better than any 5star restaurant we've dined at.
The breakfast by the pool was great as well.

Easy town to move around. Not that many pedestrian walkways.
Easy town to move around. Not that many pedestrian walkways. From my last visit(2023) there is an upgrade though.
Need for more coffee places.
The beach areas could be more cleaner.
For coffee and lovely delicious snacks,go to Malaika restaurant opposite the Buntwani Beach Front.
Walking is the healthiest way to move around Malindi, just don't give a visual contact with the boda boda taxis( you will ride unwillingly!)
Avoid the Tikka chicken with coloured(yellow) spicing.

The information on Booking.com about Malindi is an accurate representation of what I found on site. I visited the following places:
Galana Shopping Centre
Vasco da Gama Pillar
Portuguese Chapel
Malindi Marine National Park.
I occasionally ate out from a wide range of restaurants in the city centre. It was quite easy to move around Malindi and I currently have no experience of places to avoid while in Malindi.

Laid back lifestyle, great beaches, wonderful Italian pizzas. Vasco Da Gama pillar and Portuguese chapel are right there. Museums need updating. Not a huge amount to do in Malindi but if you want to get out and about, Hell's Kitchen in Marafa is worth visiting. It is a mini mini Grand Canyon. Karibuni villas in Mambrui is also nice - clearest sea water you ever saw.
Great location right on the beach, the pool is amazing and just in front of the rooms. The rooms with balcony are definitely great as they give access to pool and garden right out of the door. Kitchen is a plus and definitely important here since the hotel does not have any dining facility nor breakfast. The Malindi village is reachable via tuk tuk or a 30 mins walk, there are not many restaurants arpound Diwani hotel but tuk tuk rides are cheap. The room are well maintained and kept clean, and so i the garden. All in all a good experience!
From the moment I approached, saffron Garden located on one of the quiet streets in Malindi, surrounded by beautiful, stately villas. I knew I was someplace special, the simplicity of reception area overlooking the refreshing swimming pool and massive boabob tree and the famous Hob restaurant where I took my breakfast every morning. The hotel offers excellent Wi-Fi and different activities throughout the day and night. I have stayed at many, four and five star hotels throughout Malindi and I think I found my new favorite.
I like Malindi in general. But the fact that this is set within the same compound as Ocean Beach is the first big plus for me. I travelled alone but still got the group feeling by hanging by the pool area with other tourists. I had dinner on occasion in the hotel, which was quite convenient. Transport is there on demand. The town is literally 5 minutes away for AOBs. And the first floor setting gave me such a beautiful view of the compound. Great for solo and group travels.
I had a wonderful stay at Saffron Garden. The location was perfect for exploring the nearby attractions, such as the falconry camp, the Malindi museum, and the Vasco da Gama pillar. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious, especially the scrambled eggs. I also loved the garden, the art, and the vibes of this magical place. I highly recommend Saffron Garden to anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience in the Kenyan Riviera.
Located in a very quiet environment, close to the beach which is a very short walk from the resort. The owner and staff have tried to maintain a "home-away-from-home" atmosphere that feels very cosy and welcoming.
Also, I really loved the interior decorations and organic toiletries that came in the room. Small details like this make a huge difference.
Our waiter Robert was extremely helpful and made some of the best cocktails that I've had in Kenya! I also loved how quiet and peaceful everything was- especially at Lion in the Sun. Everything is beautiful and I really enjoyed being able to move freely between the two locations. I also had one of the best massages in the spa, thanks to Naomi!
The host is your plug for everything you may need in your stay from hotels to transport and night clubs. The caretaker is super friendly as well. The place is gorgeous with a 24 hour pool. It is adjacent to a beautiful hotel, Ocean beach resort, so thats a plus. Would highly recommend. I will definitely be back .
It's a beachfront hotel with direct access to the ocean. You have stunning ocean views from the rooms overlooking the sea or the beach seats. Suppose you like a sandy and accessible beach. In that case, this is the place to be.
More importantly, the staff is very helpful and hospitable.
The best accommodation we had during our 4 weeks holidays in Kenya and Tanzania! Huge(!) apartment snd terrace. Fully equipped kitchen. Clean, bright, nicely decorated. Large pool with cristal clear water. Very friendly, professional and helpful staff. Highly recommended.
The location is about 5 minutes walk to the beach; close to several restaurants and a short drive to Malindi Town. They have a lovely (shared) pool. The host is very responsive and efficient... Any requests made were resolved almost immediately. We enjoyed our stay.
The room was beautiful and comfortable, there was a relax area with a pool, and couches outside of the room. The staff was helpful, there were bicycles to use for free to go to other restaurants or beaches. The yoga session was also very good.
This place is idyllic. Looks exactly like the pictures! Perfect for a couple of days to relax after safari. 5 min walk from the beach (though we headed to Watumu for snorkeling). The staff are very helpful and attentive, particularly Ruth.
The property was beautiful and located close to great restaurants. Their beachfront property was a favorite place for me to study for a very important exam I needed to prepare for, and my father enjoyed relaxing there!
Nice room and pool, right on the beach. Beach area clean and not crowded when we went in August. Provided menus for restaurants to deliver to room. Fridge, kettle, microwave in the room.
We had a very nice staying at Kenyan House. The house is amazing and we felt like at home. Highly recommended. The staff is very welcoming and helpful.
