This small family-owned and run country hotel in North Suffolk was once a rural public house; today, it has been sympathetically renovated and still retains its historic charm and character.

Friendly and welcoming from the moment I arrived. The room was comfortable, clean and the bed was huge! Nothing was too much and I had a lovely stay. Jake and his team were wonderful and the breakfast was delicious.

The whole experience was amazing. Lovely house with spacious and pretty interiors. Size of kitchen and dining hall was great. The garden was beyond beautiful. It was for my birthday celebration and the host prepared two bottles of Prosecco and some snacks for us.
Overall ,excellent. Breakfast was outstanding. Sadly we did not try the dinner menu which looked very good as we were invited out . The restaurant has numerous awards for its food. The restaurant is shut Sunday night. Quiet and very comfortable rooms.

This is more a rural area with towns and villages nearby. Very close to the Norfolk border with the market town of Diss only a few miles away. Stowmarket and Ipswitch are also not that far. There are castles and the coast not that far either.
The White Horse Pub on the A140 is highly recommended. The food was fantastic and very friendly staff too.
Great place to visit and use as a base to travel out from for a weekend in Suffolk or Norfolk. You do need a car though to get around.

We did not venture into Yaxley itself but did visit Diss and Eye: both picturesque market towns with character. We used the hotel as a base to visit Grime's Graves, and Ely with its magnificent cathedral. Also stopped and watched the aircraft at Lakenheath and got an impromptu fly past of two F15s.
Jake and Katy were great hosts and helped us with small things like freezing our freezer blocks to take with us each day. We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant on our first evening which was a special treat. The property is easy to find as it's located right on the A140 Norwich to Ipswich road. It gave us a really good central base for exploring Suffolk attractions. Our 6 breakfasts were consistently delicious. Plenty of off road parking. There is also a lovely garden area to sit in with picnic tables.
The hotel was very accommodating in allowing us to arrive a little later than the normal booking in time. The staff member on duty was very welcoming and showed us to our room. He was equally hospitable in the morning when we went to sign out. The room was fabulous and made our stay a real experience. Both the chaise long and the bed were beautiful, wonderfully presented and very comfortable. It made for a very romantic stay. The bathroom was very spacious and well lit.
There was nothing not to like. Jake and Katie were exemplary hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. And that included wonderful service and attention for our two dogs. The food we ate was delicious with a lot of the ingredients grown on the premises. They are running a beautiful establishment with courtesy, respect and care; good old-fashioned service at reasonable prices. I would highly recommend the Auberge in Yaxley for a pet-friendly comfortable break. Big thumbs up!
Jake has enhanced the meaning of the feel good Gastro Pub x 10. He, his wife and excellent team provide supreme comfort, incredible food and Michelin star service in Suffolk's best kept secret, not far from Yaxley. Stop over here and you'll get the best treatment you can possibly imagine. Food - and outstanding wine list - makes this one of the best restaurant with rooms in the East of England.
A lovely family run hotel with extremely welcoming and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble for John, Dee and family. The location was peaceful and was a great base to explore surrounding countryside, the coast and even a day trip to Cambridge which is about an hour away. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and we also had an excellent evening meal in the restaurant.
We stayed here as a base to explore Suffolk. I think you would need a car as its not near much else.
The room was very large with comfortable beds. There was a large bathroom with walk in shower and plenty of toiletries.
Breakfast was plentiful and well cooked.
We also had dinner at the hotel which I would thoroughly recommend. Well prepared.
Staff very helpful and friendly.
Fantastic stay. The staff were incredibly kind and very good at their job. I stay in a lot of hotels and to have friendly staff makes a huge difference. Nice big comfy room with bath and the breakfast in the morning was delicious. Also very much appreciate having a cafetiere of coffee rather than a single cup for breakfast.
The hotel was clean and our room was very comfortable. The host was very welcoming and the service was very good. The food was very good, the evening menu provided good choices, and breakfast was excellent.
Excellent. Freshly cooked breakfast and served with a smile.
At dinner Dee's twice cooked soufflé was one of the best I have ever eaten and matched one I had years ago at the Hotel de Paris in Monaco
Service was great, very friendly family run hotel.
Food was very good, wine selection was also very good.
Location was great, central to Norfolk and Suffolk exploring.
