Absolutely beautiful property, the apartments were just perfect for our big family group for a local wedding. There is a lovely outside space for everyone to gather, and the hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming! Each apartment had a selection of breakfast items which was a lovely touch. Lovely pretty cottage, good parking and easy access through a key safe. Lovely host with eggs, bread and milk delivered when we arrived and other breakfast choices already in cottage. Very helpful with recommendations for dinner and we had a lovely stay. Much better than staying in a hotel!

We could only manage 2 nights as this was the 1st time the children had been away with us without their parents. There is so much to see and do in the area. However, the short duration is an excuse to return.
Lovely hotel set in beautiful grounds. So grand from the moment you drive up, easy to find. We had a room upgrade on arrival, chanpagne can be placed in the room if requested. The staff were very helpful and friendly, parking is easily accessable.
The restaurant was very cosy, relaxing upmarket vibe, food came out nice and hot, very tasty.
The room was stunning, beautiful views all round. Very comfortable bed, bathroom also beautiful. Optional spa treatments were also offered. Highly recommend.
Close to A1M though a bit farther out of York than we wanted but a straightforward 20m drive there almost direct to a car park. Could have used convenient park and ride. Lovely welcome by owners. Super interesting history, people and grounds. Lovely traditional house, room and breakfast. Hosts offered tea/coffee & cake when we arrived and when we came in the next night at 'no added charge'. It's also nice & close to Tadcaster which is great for John Smith fans!!
Staff are very friendly and accommodating. The building has character, but doesn't suffer from creaky floorboards etc. as you often get in old places. I'd certainly stay there again.
The taxi service they recommended (Douggies) was efficient, reliable, and fairly priced. They took a lot of trouble to make sure we got into and out of Leeds on time without fuss (no small feat). A credit to the hotel.
A lovely two day stay at the Old Presbytery Guest House . Christine and Chris were wonderful hosts and helped to make our short break in Barkston Ash really enjoyable. The cooked breakfasts were superb , probably the best we’ve had in a B&B or Hotel .
We’d thoroughly recommend a stay at The Old Presbytery Guest House .
The Jackdaw owners are amazingly friendly and helpful. There were ample food supplies left ready for us which was an unexpected bonus. Great place to go if you have small kids. Tadcaster is closed on a Monday and most of Tuesday as well so expect to have to travel out of town if dinning out.
I had stayed here a couple of weeks ago and had booked again based on that experience - a somewhat quirky hotel with a lot of character and a long way from the formulaeic alternatives that are on offer at an increasingly high price.
Beautiful grounds, friendly owners, nice breakfast.
Secure gate with easy parking.
Good value and much more homely than the usual travel-hotels nearby. We stayed in family room with our own travel cot.
I stayed there 4years ago and the hotel is still lovely. In fact, by chance I was given the same room - Crocus.
The log fires in each of the lounges make the hotel really cosy.
Cosy and comfy accommodation. A great welcome and enough breakfast for double the number of people! Will definitely use the Jackdaw next time I visit family in Tadcaster
The hotel has beautiful grounds and has made clever use of the original building.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Food and wine selections were excellent
It used to be a castle so there are aspects of the property that the current hotel has not negatively influenced and is still interesting such as the graveyard.
