Staithes is a small quiet fishing village, down a steep hill. There is a car park at the top of the hill. But we were warned about car parking and apparently if you overstay your time there is a good chance you will get a fine.
We ate twice in the Royal George pub ( Friday night very busy still half term holiday, and Sunday evening totally different only a handful of people in.)
Both nights we had lovely food all home made. Both evenings all the staff were very friendly, helpful, efficient and took time out to be extra helpful.
It’s a good base for days out to Whitby, Robin Hoids Bay etc. Roads are a joy to drive on ( no potholes in site).
Would recommend to friends. Would probably go back to Staithes again. Everyone is extremely friendly, lovely place to stay.

An absolutely charming and picturesque village.
An absolutely charming and picturesque village. Full of history and character. A treat for photographers and artists. There are lots of options for eating and drinking. There is a very steep hill down to the harbour and back, it may be difficult to manage for some people as there is no vehicular access for visitors.

It is a beautiful village with a maze of quaint meandering streets and lovely cottages. There are some nice walks up each of the cliffs. The views are spectacular.
The car park at the top of the village is where the majority of cars must be parked. To get there it is a very steep climb up a hill for around 400-500 metres. If you cottages says parking is included be careful, as usually this means in the car park at the top of the village up the hill, and not in the village itself.
To the nearest Supermarket (Co-op) it’s around 1km (up the hill, back to the main road and turn left)
Monday mornings in the village are a nightmare as guests try to load their cars and delivery drivers try to drop off

Parking is impossible if you have any problems walking up and down very steep hills as the only carpark is at the top of the hill.
Eating out in the evening is limited to 3 places.
The high street leading down to the bay is quaint but many of the properties are neglected.
Had an absolutely amazing stay at Dunsley Cottage - just one regret - we needed more time there. The cottage was very cosy with everything that we needed plus a few extras. The location was superb at the bottom of the village close to the harbour, a short walk to the pubs & the village shops. Parking was available at a small cost at the top of the village but we were able to drive down to off load luggage when we arrived & load up again when we left. Would love to return one day
Fantastic little cottage in the heart of staithes, perfect location.
Couldn't fault the accommodation, Bev the owner sent a very helpful guide both via txt and In the cottage with plenty of helpful hints and suggestions.
The cottage is lovely and cozy, with a lovely log burner and an extremely well equipped kitchen.
Bed was incredibly comfy and couldn't have hoped for a nicer place to stay.....will definately return!!
We were really pleased and impressed with our accommodation. The staff were lovely and helpful, our rooms were clean and generously kitted out with all we needed. The breakfasts were superb and we also had a great evening meal. The location was perfect. We will certainly return.
Thank you to all at the Royal George.
Amazing lodge for our bank holiday weekend in Yorkshire. Extremely clean, comfortable accommodation in very peaceful location. All that you can hear when you open the window is the sound of the flowing stream and bird chirping. We will definitely be coming back for another stay.
Staithes is a wonderful place full of history and unspoilt. Endevour is in the centre. Although Staithes is tiny. Mountains of food at the St George opposite.
Prebooked parking at Glenvale at top of hill for peace of mind...
Great location at the heart of Staithes, accomodation was very comfortable and hosts made you feel very welcome. We stayed for two nights and we wanted to stay more for the fab breakfasts and rest.
We love the charm of these cottages along the East Yorkshire Coast. Flither Cottage was warm and welcoming. good sized rooms and a bathroom with bath and separate shower.
