Friendly welcome, great location, clean and tidy room, very quiet for a good night's sleep. Food in the pub was excellent. I had to leave early, before breakfast started, so I was very kindly provided with a packed lunch instead.

The Roundabout Hotel, hotel in Soberton

Situated 10 minutes’ drive from Portsmouth town centre and South Downs National Park, The Roundabout Hotel offers an on-site 70-seater restaurant and rooms with free Wi-Fi.

The staff and food (especially the homemade pies) were excellent....so friendly. They made such a fuss of our dog Bella, would definitely go back. It is situated on a busy roundabout but we couldn't hear the traffic. We were in a room at the back overlooking the carpark. We walked into Fareham Town which was about 10 minutes..it is slightly uphill with plenty of shops but not too busy. There is also 2 pubs down the road from the hotel which do food too. We got the bus from around the corner to Portsmouth which took about an hour. We stayed for 3 days then moved on but we came back a few days later to have the pies again...the chef is only a young lad, keep up the good work! The Hotel is basic but we loved it!

New Place, hotel in Soberton

Set in 32 acres of exquisite parkland, this hotel combines a Grade 1 listed manor house with a modern conference centre and modern rooms with free WiFi.

We arrived in the evening having crossed from St Malo by ferry and found that we had been upgraded to a suite as the rest of the hotel had been taken over by 108 police officers who were preparing to take part in the D Day celebrations. The suite was very spacious and comfortable and would normally have cost considerably more than we were charged. Breakfast in the morning was good and we had an adequate meal in the bar the night before - adequate meaning it was fine but had just had a week of superb French cooking, so it paled by comparison!

We booked this location last minute and were very happy. The staff was so friendly and accomodating. The Pub serves delicious food, and it has a nice garden for those who want to sit outside. The guest cabins are in a seperated area in the backyard. Very stylish, comfortable and quiet. We enjoyed food and accomodation very much and would have loved to stay longer.

Soberton is a quiet village with little more than a nice church and a very nice pub (White Lion) that does excellent food and accommodation. There are walks that literally lead from the pub's door that are delightful and are circular in nature. The walks lead along the river edge and a disused railway line as well as across fields and through woods. Soberton is 10 mins from Fareham, 20 mins from Portsmouth and 30 mins from Southampton or Winchester, so there is always plenty to do, even if the weather turns rainy.

I spent my time off road cycling and walking, there is not a lot in the village very quiet, which suits me. Great location as abase for walking cycling and if you need more shops than are available in local villages then Petersfield is not far away.
