The city is busy with a nice atmosphere. There are lots of shops and eateries. We tried the Mexican, "Tinga", which was really good. The Cathedral is well worth a visit, to see the scale of it as well as the Magna Carta. We also visited Arundells, Ted Heath's former home, which was really interesting.

Salisbury is a very good location for a holiday in the UK.
Salisbury is a very good location for a holiday in the UK. Within the immediate area of the city there is an impressive cathedral (which houses a copy of Magna Carta) and the ruins of Old Sarum. A little further afield, there is the famous Stonehenge World Heritage Site which is very much worth a visit.
The city itself is easy to get around - much of it is walkable and there is a good bus service.
Due to its rail links, Salisbury can also be used as a base for exploring the wider area. Regular trains run to locations throughout Wiltshire, Dorset and Hampshire.

St Thomas Becketts Church was a wonderful surprise with the late 15thc paintings.
The walking tour of Salisbury with a registered guide was excellent and i would definitely recommend it.
The docents in the cathedral were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. More importantly you could ask any question of them and they would endeavour to answer it.

It is a town full of interest - museums, The Cathedral and close, Montpesson House and many more. It has a wide range of shops, cafes and interesting old buildings, full of history. It is easy to walk round. We especially enjoy Elizabeth Gardens and the water meadows to Harnham.
The centre is so busy, best taken in small doses. The market square is important to see, especially on market day - and a new department store.

Everthing is within walking distance shops, cathedral etc and there are plenty of places to eat. Furthermore, as this is an old medieval town there are lots of pubs ! so plenty of choice of breweries and food ! Its also based on a grid system so very easy to navigate your way around.
We did find that the independant shops, market etc are NOT open on Sundays so if you are coming for shopping make sure you come Monday to Saturday or you will be disappointed !
Our host said when the sun shines Salisbury is the best place to be and with a choice of over 5 rivers you could walk along bathed in sunshine I would agree !

Beautiful city. Amazing old streets and buildings.
Beautiful city. Amazing old streets and buildings. Small enough to explore on foot. Plenty of places to enjoy food and drink. The Cathedral is stunning. Plenty of independent shops. Nice green open spaces. Lovely for a couple of days.
I loved this place! It was so quaint and still freshly updated. There was such attention to detail, from the the mineral waters, teas, coffees, and bath room condiments in the hotel room, to the English breakfast and the dinners served. Everything was of highest quality. The staff was friendly and professional. It is located a short walk from the city center, but it was such a pleasant walk through meadows, that my husband and I felt it added to the charm of the place. Simply put, I absolutely loved this place!
Quiet location, spacious and cozy at the same time. Wonderful contry side, peaceful and hospitable area. The Garrett is very well maintained and clean. It is remote from the buzz of the city while being close to all needed accomadations. An excellent home base to visit the area (Salisbury, Stonehenge, Wilton, Winchester, ...). We highly recommend it!
The view is beautiful - couldn't have asked for better. The room was comfortable, with everything we needed, just that with the weather being unusually cold for August, we could have done with the heating on.
We had Sunday lunch at the hotel and the food was very good.
Free parking and there was always a space available.
Location was ideal. Just outside the town of Salisbury, with countryside views and a good-sized yard ("garden" in England) for recreational activities. The kitchen, dining room, the Japanese garden and the patio (with BBQ grill) were ideal for our group of 12 people. Parking space was also plentiful.
We stayed here on the way back from Stonehenge.
It was a wonderful hotel in a very spacious and beautifully maintained area. There were ponies and cows on the grounds, which the small children loved. For dinner, we went to a pub recommended by the owner. I would definitely stay here again.
We booked room only and the room has just been refurbished and was in excellent condition. The location was perfect for our needs being near the center of town. The rest of the hotel is still being refurbished so that was fine with us as we were out and about locally.
Excellent, recently refitted room which was spacious, fresh and conformable. Good bathroom facilities. Lots of space for clothes too.
Great location and with plenty of parking which is a major plus for a citt centre hotel
And staff welcoming and helpful
unlike most UK hotels on our vacation trip the Qudos had larger rooms and bathrooms. the hotel was clean and close to historic Salisbury. parking was nearby so you need to park illegally somewhere nearby and the staff directs you to the nearby lot.
Breakfast was simply superb - lots of choice and the cooking was first class
Great location - 5min walk to city centre and shops
10 out of 10 for cleanness super duper
Comfort was as high as you get in any 6 star hotel
Staff are great very chilled great location building so different from other hotel they have a great dining hall plentiful quiet places generally most people who visit are vary friendly there a air of real peace
The Rose and Crown Hotel is just a short walk from the City centre so great for a visit to Salisbury.
Good spacious room with a patio.
Breakfast is buffet style and has a good choice
Overall a nice place to stay
Very nice, cozy and clean hotel that has been operating since XVII century in the centre of Wilton. Walking distance to Wilton House and short driving distance to the city centre of Salisbury and to Stonehenge.
beautiful comfortable spacious rooms x4 with character
Breakfast was excellent
we had dinner one night in the hotel - was excellent
Location - excellent (parents in their 80's not able to walk too far)
Proximity to the city centre (10 mins walk). Polite and helpful staff. Very clean hotel. Superb shower. Huge and comfortable bed. Very spacious room. Excellent hairdryer and ironing facilities.
Room attractive and all amenities provided. Good breakfast. Free parking at hotel. Large and beautiful garden area. About 25 mins walk to city centre so a good location
Good attention to detail , great service and helpful staff all round 😊 lovely setting and period hotel with stacks of character, both really enjoyed our stay there.
