Large, comfortable room. I particularly liked that the hairdryer was set up next to the mirror in the bedroom. It seems so obvious, but it’s a rare occurrence in UK hotels.

An important harbour for centuries, Portsmouth counts with one of the busiest ferry piers in the United Kingdom, has the oldest dry dock still in use in the world. Its Historic Dockyard is home to famous British ships like Lord Nelson's flagship HMS Victory, the Mary Rose and the HMS Warrior.
In the picturesque Old Town you’ll find typical English pubs, coloured houses, and small independent shops. It also has a Fish Market provided by the city’s small fishing fleet. In Old Portsmouth is possible to find smaller hotels, B&B’s and guest houses, some of them not far from the ferry harbour.
The Gunwharf Quays are a modernly renovated shopping area, home to the Spinnaker Tower, while the centre has an ever-growing number of shops. Don’t miss Commercial Road and the Cascades Shopping Centre. Hotels in Portsmouth’s city centre allow you to be close to everything what the city has to offer.
For relaxing moments, Portsdown Hill allows panoramic views over the city and the Isle of Wight. During summer, its sandy beaches are a must.

This city, historical home of Britain's Naval Base houses treasures you can't see anywhere else. HMS Victory, the ship Admiral Nelson died in battle is a sight to behold. Excellent audio helps with the tour. The HMS Mary Rose, the 14th century ship on display in an interpretive centre is fascinating. HMS Warrior, the biggest iron hulled warship in the world and other ships available for touring. Boat tours of the harbour or a ferry via the famous hovercraft to Isle of Wight. The D-Day Interpretive Centre and the last remaining craft that landed on the beaches of Normandy there to walk through. A coastal walk that is breathtaking. So, so much to discover and enjoy. We have to go back.

I was only in Portsmouth as I using the Brittany Ferries . Over the last 35 years my son had lived here at some time so I know all the attractions. I did not visit any on this holiday trip.
However the City is well worth a visit to see the Navel History

If you like history Portsmouth is great.
If you like history Portsmouth is great. We did not know about the hovercraft that went to the Isle of Wright which I wish we could of done. Spent only about 3/4 of a day at the Naval museum. Could easily spent 2 days.

I can't really praise Portsmouth Dockyard highly enough - I am a seasoned traveller and this was one of the highlights of my life.
Portsmouth Dockyard was more amazing than I could have imagined. Our train was late, so we only had two days plus a couple of hours and it definitely needs three full days. I'm glad we left the Mary Rose until last because it was even more incredible than the rest of it. Personally I didn't find the explosion museum very interesting, but that's a matter of opinion and my husband enjoyed it. We will go back another time to see more - luckily the ticket to the Dockyard is valid for a year.
There are other things to do in Portsmouth and we had a brief walk around the shopping outlets, but they're not really my thing. There were plenty of restaurants and pubs near the dockyard.

My accommodation, booked and paid for, was a complete disaster. It no longer even existed. Don’t get caught out, and don’t believe anything you see about staying at ‘Zoom’, it is a lie.
I was thankful to get a room at Travelodge in Portsmouth instead, but all this after a long day’s travel by train from up north.
Travelodge felt like heaven! Portsmouth was fine, but tainted by my bad experience.
The staff was outstanding, very helpful. We had never visited Portsmouth previously, and our host Mary provided us with seveal suggestions and even gave us a lift to the restaurant! Also very helpful with suggestions on local area highlights to visit. Breakfast was as promised and the lobby area is very welcoming and comfortable. Recommend with out reservation! Thank you Mary!
The location was great, especially for the esplanade and beach. There was parking outside the property, and a bus stop directly outside the hotel that I used to get into Portsmouth city centre and back. The hotel and room were clean and the decour was lovely. The staff were super friendly and helpful. There was plenty of choice for breakfast, and it was delicious.
Great hotel near the Gunwharf quays shopping centre and the Historic Dockyards. Ideal for a trip to Portsmouth, very well connected to the harbour train station if you don't travel by car. Room was spacious, clean and had everything for our stay. Staff was extremely helpful and breakfast was perfect. Definitely recommend!
Easy to find location as I did live in the, now demolished, block of flats that were at the back of the hotel. Over all location is good if you wish to explore Old Portsmouth, The Hard, or nearby Southsea. Bonus was that there is an electric scooter hire right outside that was cheap and easy to use.
The house was absolutely beautiful as well as historical. We loved the space, the comfort, and the proximity to the seafront and Historic Dockyard. Steve was so helpful, accommodating our late arrival and providing us with resources on the history of Portsmouth.
Pretty central and close to Portsmouth Harbour train station. Close to entertainment area Gun Wharf and Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, all within a few minutes walk. A small hotel above a pub, with good pub food. Room rate was reasonable for this time of year.
Were upgraded on arrival to a superior room to what we paid, the room had a great view of harbour and the breakfast was excellent. The staff on duty were friendly and helpful and the location of the hotel is ideal for gunwharf quays historic dockyard.
Good location, easy to get to and plenty of disabled parking. Room was spacious and comfortable with walk-in shower. All staff were excellent. We stayed in three Marriott hotels on this trip and Portsmouth was by far the best.
very good hotel, good location, the price including breakfast is very good. The food is also good, the staff is very friendly, parking is free. I don't think we need more. Everything is excellent
very convenient location, used the local park and ride to get into city centre where it was just a short walk to Portsmouth harbour, railway station and boutique shops
Breakfast ok . Staff over all went up and beyond. Rearly enjoyed my stay. Will recommend the hotel to everyone who asks where I stayed in Portsmouth. Thanks.
