‘Museum Loft’ Scotland’s Wee Hat Museum, hotel in Newburgh

Offering river views, ‘Museum Loft’ Scotland’s Wee Hat Museum is an accommodation located in Newburgh, 29 km from Discovery Point and 33 km from St Andrews University.

The room was eclectic with lots of interesting items with great views out to the estuary as well as a window overlooking the curious hat museum. It was large with all of the facilities I needed. A local, well stocked store allowed me to purchase all I needed for an evening meal and breakfast. The host kindly allowed me to store my (filthy) bike inside the main door where it was safe.

The Crees Room only NO BAR OR RESTAURANT, hotel in Newburgh

Offering free WiFi throughout the property, The Crees Room only NO BAR OR RESTAURANT is situated in Abernethy, 34 km from Discovery Point and 38 km from St Andrews University.

I couldn’t fault the staff at this venue. I was staying by for work and arrived late after work. They managed to get me a table, without hesitation, for some food even though it was the Saturday before Christmas. They were super attentive, the food was insane and I couldn’t fault the service. They even made me the most perfect breakfast bag to take away.

The room was clean and just big enough for the two of us. The landlady was really lovely and very accommodating. We requested to check in before 3 as we had a wedding and she made sure the room was ready for us. Which really helped.

Glencarse Hotel, hotel in Newburgh

The family-run Glencarse Hotel is situated in Glencarse, just 6 miles from Perth. It was built in the 17th century and features contemporary styling within its classic, traditional building.

Before we arrived we received an email informing us of evening meal times and inviting us to book if we intended to eat there. When we arrived we were met by Lena who showed us to our room and made us feel very welcome The meal was delicious and served by the lovely Lena. Nothing was too much bother for her. The following morning breakfast was excellent and well presented. All well cooked and hot. A lovely overnight stay after a long journey.

The Bein Inn Hotel & Restaurant, hotel in Newburgh

With a rural location in peaceful Glenfarg, The Bein Inn Hotel & Restaurant is also just 5 minutes' drive from the M90 motorway.

Booked a twin room which was a decent size. Shower was excellent which was a big plus after walking all day. Had a meal and a few beers in the bar at night - good choice of menu at a reasonable rice. Breakfast in the morning was excellent. On the route of the excellent Kinross P&R to Perth bus route operated by Glenfarg Community Group which we used to get to and from the Bein Inn.

It's a lovely place with access to really lovely walks.

It's a lovely place with access to really lovely walks. There's a lovely wee dog friendly cafe that seems to have opened recently, the food was lovely & fresh, I just hope it can stay open. Sadly like many of our towns, it looks like quite a few places have shut down. There is a pub on the high street but we didn't go in.

Newburgh is an interesting small town. It has a distillery and lovely river walk. 2 pubs and one good co op shop. It hasn't got a rail station but does have regular buses. It is well sited to visit Fife and Dundee.

Lovely walks along the Banks of the River Tay. Quiet little place but nice bakery and co-op foe essentials. Lovely gallery but Do not miss the wonderful distillery tour at Lindores Abbey which gives you a brilliant history of the Abbey, the monks and the area. Well worth a visit!
