Lane End Cottage, hotel in New Alresford

Offering a garden and quiet street view, Lane End Cottage is situated in Ovington, 25 km from Ageas Bowl and 28 km from The Mayflower Theatre.

The Cottage was exactly as pictured on Booking.com. My family needed a very quiet bolt hole which was clean and had good wifi to recharge our batteries in the middle to a hectic trip. This is exactly what we got. The hosts are extremely warm and friendly. The location is absolutely tranquil. There was adequate off road parking for a large van. We got to have a river-side evening walk before a peaceful nights sleep. The cottage was very clean with every amenity considered. We even had a recommendation for breakfast the following day. The price is as you would expect for the area and worth every penny.

Amazing first impression, We had a lovely lady welcome us who explained how everything works, she gave us the key to our hut and off we went. Opening the huts we were very happy with the accommodation as we hadn't done much research so it was a surprise to us. The hut had lots of little homely touches, candles, hand made curtains, fluffy blankets, clean towels and the comfiest bed ive ever been on,!! There was also a kettle, mugs, tea coffee etc, plug sockets. It was super clean. The surroundings are beautiful lots of forestry, a massive green with lots of tables and chairs for your use, it was very well kept and maintained. The hut was just a 10min drive to Petersfield in one direction and Winchester in the other direction, We went to visit a really lovely place 10mins away called caffeine and machine which did lovely food, drinks and music. We then visited Petersfield for dinner where there are a number of lovely restaurants. Whilst out the lovely staff had messaged to say they were locking up but would we like any food or drink left at the hut for us for when we got back, very thoughtful. The next day no one was booked in after us so we were allowed to stay as long as wanted instead of leaving at the check out time so we made the most of the pub garden which was lovely. If you are looking for a little getaway from a busy life then i highly recommend the Fox, we will definitely be back.

Very clean and comfortable - the smell of the room made me feel like I was in a spa! Loved the extra touches (tea and coffee facilities) and soaps. Very accommodating to letting me have a later check out time so I could sleep after my night shift! I would 100% love to stay again (when not working!) Was lovely to sit on the terrace to eat dinner in the sun.

We visited New Alresford as we were going on the Watercress Line for the Christmas Illuminations experience. The town itself is small but beautiful and we enjoyed a little stroll around despite the fact that Covid restrictions are in place.

New Alresford is a small town with walks to the river and a traditional steam railway. So near to winchester with a good bus service. Relaxing, individual shops and a great place to relax. There is a good choice of restaurants and pubs. I would consider staying in New Alresford again and using public transport to get to winchester.

We stayed just the one night (Thursday 8th July), in an adequate ground floor room directly on the car park (bit like a motel) which was well appointed, clean and modern with a comfy bed. The B&B breakfast was EXCEPTIONAL - one of the best I've ever had in well over fifty years of staying in hotels and B&B's around the UK. The full English breakfast choice was simply the best, and the staff service was prompt, cheerful and attentive. Outstanding - well done!

We booked the room to enjoy the bath feature and it paid dividends, Room 20 furthest away from the noise of hotel and main road, quiet, nicely decorated, great shower room with his and her basins, comfy bed. The hotel is also nicely decorated, we had the sharers platter with meat and chilli beef and it was delicious. Parking on site. Excellent location in Town with lots of boutiques and a very convenient Patisserie next door.

The location of this hotel is very good. It's at the city centre surrounded by lovely cafes and decor shops. Our stay was very comfortable. The fact that there was an additional bunk bed within the same room ensured kids were with us and we didn't have to book another room. The hotel and the rooms have been tastefully done. The breakfast was good as well. Overall highly recommend this gem of a hotel!

The staff were incredibly friendly, polite and accommodating - a real credit to the hotel. Food was fantastic, good range of draught beer and cider and a great range of wine. Atmosphere was lovely. Could tell the hotel was frequented by locals which, in my opinion, is a sign of a great establishment.

We loved New Alresford location. Also apartment was amazing and really well equiped, and quiet, and literally a few metres away from the main street. Perfect location. Also the host went out of their way to help swap over the apartment key after we left the wrong key behind. Sorry :)
