Lovely lady that runs the hotel, very friendly. The hotel is perhaps, a bit dated for some but I really enjoyed my stay. Very clean room, shower excellent, really quiet and breakfast was spot on.
If anybody complains about this place they really should think about what they are getting for the price, do not expect luxurious surroundings and posh facilities, you get what you pay for. Everywhere else In Alston was 3 or 4 times the price of the Victoria Inn, I was super happy with my stay there
Oh and another thing, secure storage for bicycles wad a Godsend on my C2C ride, I am so glad I booked there.

The place has been beutifully refurbished and is homely and very comfortable. The food was great and excellend value and the breakfast choices good and delicious. The staff were all very friendly and everything I wanted was available. My room (no 7) was very tiny but for me it was good, nice and quiet and a brilliantly comfotable bed and good shower. I loved it all

Position good for Nenthead mining history and excellent walking country. Miners Arms has a good menu and sells a local beer. One of the best bicycle repair shops in the country and the local shop sells everything.
Garrigill is worth the long climb for the spectacular scenery.
Look out for curlew and lapwing and more.
