A nice combination of an old building with a contemporary feel. Staff were mostly friendly and helpful-although the restaurant stops serving surprisingly early; we were only just admitted for our booking at 8:30 on a Friday evening. The food was really excellent - way better than we were expecting, and not over-priced.

On arrival and entering our allocated room ,it was very small and dark, It was quite claustrophobic. I returned to the reception and explained our assessment of the room. A manager was called and he said we could have a larger room which had an additional cost of £50.
We looked at the room and accepted the additional cost. The room was of a very high standard and the additional cost was more than acceptable.

Kilsyth is a town full of history from the mines to the weaving. It should really have a museum in the main street. Colzium is a beautiful park with flowers and walks. We felt that the boat house management are really making an effort to improve the hotel. There is plenty of parking directly outside the hotel, a pleasant decking area too. The towels and bed linen were clean and good quality. there was plenty of tea/coffee etc in the rooms and nice toiletries. Water in the in-room fridge and our friends had a small bottle of Sherry and 2 glasses in their room!

The receptionist went out of her way to explain all aspects of my stay and also showed me to my room. The room was exactly as described with a lovely view of the canal outside. It was a busy hotel but really quiet, which made for a perfect night's sleep. I ate in the restaurant twice and the food was top quality. We found the hotel to be really nice, the staff were very friendly and helpful but the restaurant was a complete surprise. There was a huge choice of food on offer and the meals were excellent and generous. Breakfast was equally as good.
