Rooms were bigger than average for a pub. Apart from the marmalade (which was decidedly average), breakfast was excellent. Location is very nice - Long Melford is a really attractive village.

The lovely quiet remote surroundings, the friendliness of the staff. Could have had a bit more variation on the menu and there was a lack of closet space in the room. However, they were minor things compared to the e enjoyable stay

Very rural and peaceful as required..
Very rural and peaceful as required.. A hard copy map is beneficial as the sat nav was unreliable. Lovely scenery, but be prepared to travel approximately an hour to visit places of interest. Great walks available. No other places to eat around except The Pheasant.

Rural, peaceful, with a great 'pub with rooms'.
Rural, peaceful, with a great 'pub with rooms'. What's not to like? A reminder of the pleasing diversity of Essex - the beautiful and relaxing countryside a contrast with the busy energy of the more populated towns, especially those in the south of the county.
The landlady was wonderful and made us feel so much at home in this amazing hotel. The rooms were superb and the morning view was spectacular. The Pheasant is highly recommended and if in the area we’ll definitely try to stay there again
A very warm welcome, the room was finished really well (to hotel standards). We had a fantastic soup and burger for luch, the home made chips were excellent! The view from our room was lovely too, overlooking the fields at the back.
Staff is really friendly. The hotel is in the countryside, nice area. Good size room with separate couch/TV area. Large bathroom. Food was OK. Nice outside area for drinking and dining.
