The hotel is situated in a quiet area close to the town centre and about 1.5 miles from the train station. Entrance is via a very steep driveway or flight of steps, neither of which would be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Our room, Balchin's Den, had its own entrance at the side of the main building. It was spacious, comfortable and had been recently decorated in a modern style. Breakfast was served in a large dining room overlooking the front garden. There was a self service buffet offering a variety of cereals, fresh fruit and bread for making toast. The cooked breakfast had to be pre-ordered the evening before.
Set in an Edwardian mansion, the 4-star Ramnee Hotel features leafy gardens and a traditional restaurant. The hotel is situated just outside Forres centre, adjacent to Grant Park.

Very spacious room, very comfortable bed and a great bathroom. The location is spectacular.
After a week staying in small hotel rooms this was such a nice break. The room although a little out of date was very spacious, clean and we were able to spread out. The bathroom was enormous and the bed and linens above expectations. So quiet!

All the staff went above and beyond. We received great customer service. We loved staying at The Crown and Anchor and will definitely be back.
Our breakfast was delicious- lots of bacon in our pancakes, bacon and maple syrup stack. Great quality produce used. Our evening meal was delicious too. We would highly recommend the Cullen Skink Soup, the Scottish Wagu beef burger and chilli con carne. The room was spotless and tastefully decorated. Really comfy bed too. It was SO relaxing hearing the sea and the waves outside. Fab location.
Forres is a lovely friendly town. It has lots of shops to browse. Grants parks amazing for children and any 4 legged friends. Chimes is a Great coffee shop. There was lots going on within the town with it being Remembrance Sunday.

I can’t say enough positive things about the lovely Lily...
I can’t say enough positive things about the lovely Lily Cottage. It was spotlessly clean, well appointed and has everything that one would need for a fantastic holiday in Findhorn. Pub, Bakehouse, Hotel, Cafe and beaches all within walking distance. Parked my car for the duration of the stay. Didn’t need it. The cottage is finished to a high standard and beautifully furnished.

Forres is one of the best, nicest towns along the Moray Firth coast. There are still independent shops and beautiful well-kept green park areas. It has a Victorian heritage.
There are a number of pubs with nice areas to sit out in.
Forres is also well-connected for road, rail and air links. It forms a good base for exploring or for business visits.

Beautiful town of old buildings along the High Street.
Beautiful town of old buildings along the High Street.
Grant Park was lovely. Huge area of lovely flower beds and play park for children.
For lovers of archaeology the Huge Suennos Stone is situated in the town.
The location is unbeatable: right at the center of downtown Forres, with Food-CoOp and Boots Pharmacy across the street, beautiful parks and churches nearby. The room is clean, the duvet and towels are sparkling white. The shower is shared only by two rooms, making it a great money saving option. The staff was super helpful. I wasn't sure if I could drop off the luggage but they accepted it without any issue, which was a big relief for me.
Delicious and made to order breakfast and options for food if you don't want to get out. For breakfast, you get your menu options the night before to build your own breakfast in addition to yogurt, bread, and a pastry. Delicious and good selection. The room was charming with a comfortable and a nice electric fireplace to add comfort and ambiance. The woman working was absolutely wonderful and welcoming. I instantly felt at home.
The Australian lady owner is thoughtful, responsive and enthusiastic. Provided a convivial atmosphere.
I stayed in the Balchin room, entry from outside. Large pleasant room, large comfortable bed and ok bathroom.
The breakfasts, ordered the night before, were ready on time and satisfactory.
Behind the hotel there is a very pleasant woodland area, popular with dog walkers.
About a 10 minute walk into Forres main street.
Everything. Could not fault the location, the apartment, the facilities or the host. Everything was fabulous. I travelled alone to visit my son how lives in Forres. It was a great location and was easy walking distance to all amenities. The location was lovely and peaceful. I will definitely be back whenever I come to visit again and will be recommending the apartments and Carlo to family and friends wishing to visit,.
Extremely central within Forres with all the amenities close by. The Carlton Hotel was very clean and obviously well maintained. All staff encountered were friendly, professional and very helpful. Our room was well furnished, extremely comfortable beds, free standing wardrobe with a plentiful supply of hangers (a bit of rarity that!), a tv, kettle and a shower.
Breakfast was excellent. The room(s) are very clean and beds comfortable; though some might say in need of a little up-grading. Service is always done with a smile and there is a fairly happy air about the place. WiFi works well throughout the hotel. It is in a private location within easy walking distance of Forres centre and quiet at night when sleeeping.
Fantastic location right in the heart of Forres Town. Immaculately presented apartment with all the equipment you could possibly require for a self-catering break - although there are plenty of other options for eating out, if desired. Free car parking a very short distance from the property. Within reach of many attractions. We loved it!
Very spacious room, very comfortable bed and a great bathroom. The location is spectacular.

We have stayed here before on an couple of occasions. Whilst at the rear of the High Street in Forres, it is very quiet with easy access to shops, restaurants, takeaways and bars. Everyone is very welcoming. Carlo supplies excellent information/advice before arrival. We relax as soon as we enter the apartment.
The location was perfect for us while visiting family nearby. The flat was lovely and spacious with large rooms and a great view of the town. Forres town had enough for us in terms of places to eat for a long weekend. Helen was a great host and ensured we had everything we needed for our stay.
Location good but the hotel is run down and requires a revamp
It used to be a great hotel but new owners have let the place slip more ways than one
Footnote Best place to eat is the Cardimon Spice in Forress if you enjoy Indian food cooked to high standard
I loved the decoration of the room, the location of the hotel, and the dinner at the restaurant was just amazing - really top class! The owners are the friendliest people, and Iona (one of their adorable dogs) is always ready to be petted! :-)
Perfect location. Short walk to Forres town centre and shops. The beds were excellent, firm mattress but soft to lie on, one of the best I have slept in. Fantastic food and great menu.
An old building with high ceilings. Rooms are being refurbished. Breakfast was very good. Forres in Bloom was lovely. Beautifully maintained flower s everywhere in the town.
Firlands cabin is a little slice of heaven in Forres. it was peaceful, quiet, clean and just steps away from beautiful nature walks and the center of Forres.
