The Orwell Hotel, hotel in Felixstowe

Close to the town centre and 0.2 miles from Felixstowe Railway Station, this Victorian hotel offers free parking for guests. The property was initially built for Lord Tollemarch.

I travelled with a group of 12 cyclist and turned up rather dusty, but the staff were gracious about it and we just managed to get all the bikes into an inside store room which saved us having to haul them up to our rooms. The buffet breakfast was great but the website stated start time for Sunday was incorrect (says 07:00, but didn't start until 07:30). Its an old hotel with lots of charactor which meant the hot water took quite a while to come through in the bathroom!

Felixstowe has a really good promenade giving access from Langaurd Point to Old Felixstowe and beyond via a short beech walk to the Ferry Boat Inn. The prom also gives access to a good range of cafe, bar and eating establishments, the spa Pavilion being well worth a visit, the town itself is but a short walk from the pier and has a pleasant pedestrian only high street

Plenty of nice restaurants to choose from. High street has plenty of shops including quite a few independent shops. Plenty of things to do at the seafront where you can have a nice short or long stroll along the promenade

The promenade was really nice, plenty of entertainment plus free outdoor play areas including ping-pong tables! The walk along the beach was very nice, right beside the golf links up to the Ferryboat Inn. Good food. but do book beforehand as it is very popular

Although the weather was less than kind, my stay was pleasant and comfortable. The Great Orwell Hotel was the ideal venue for my need to be near the centre of town and close to the seafront for a bracing morning walk.

    Felixstowe has something for everyone.

Felixstowe has something for everyone. There is a great mix of shops - chains and independents. The beaches are clean with decent facilities and amusements. The Dock end has the fort and museum with the excellent cafe. The amusement arcades are generally clean and varied with fast foods between. The pier has the obligatory slot machines with a cafe and food kiosks near the leisure centre. Old Felixstowe has quieter beaches and a large carpark. The ferry end is quieter but charming. What we don't enjoy...the bumpy, bouncy roads and the ban on motorhomes in most of the car parks.

The girls on reception were so friendly and worked hard to accommodate my partner and I with our baby by providing a travel cot and giving us one of the larger double rooms on the ground floor. The room was a really good size and was clean. It was only a short walk to both the beach and the town centre There was free parking We had everything we needed and we were very happy with it. We will book one of the bigger rooms again on our next trip to felixtowe

The hotel is conveniently located outside the train station. Being a Victorian building, it is relatively well preserved and still has some charm left from this era. The bed was comfortable and the room made me feel like I was traveling back in time. The library while small was filled with old books and felt very cozy. The bath tub was large and comfortable.

After being in such a bad hotel which I left with 3 days left. I booked this lovely place it was cosy, and the bed was really comfy. The view was great, and Donna was very nice.I didn't realise the tv only had bbc, iplayer, and your own netflix. I kept searching, and Donna explained as I thought it had gone wrong, just me, though, lol

The hotel maintains his historic charms whilst being modernised and well appointed. The feature wall and soft furnishings in the bedrooms make the bedrooms feel luxurious. The staff are friendly and welcoming making our stay a pleasure.
