Location is good and the area surrounding the property is mostly quiet and safe. The front desk receptionist, Irene, was lovely and did her best to accommodate us and our dog. She deserves to work at a nicer hotel.

Very quiet and community based, on the day we were leaving there happened to be a car boot sale with many houses having garage sales which was very nostalgic which they do on the last Sunday of the month. As you drive into the village you drive through an arch which is very picturesque. The village has a few B&Bs a shop, a cafe and everything that you would really need. The glenesk hotel has access to the golf course and facilities of a sauna, steam room, gym and pool and an amazing whiskey collection. The food is outstanding with them using fresh local produce.

Quiet but friendly small town.
Quiet but friendly small town. Good evening meals available at the Glenesk and Panmure hotels and morning coffee can be had across the road at Sinclair's Larder. The ice cream shop just below Oakbank also looked nice though we didn't try it. We also wanted to try the restaurant at the Caledonian hotel in nearby Brechin, because they had a much better vegan and vegetarian menu than either of the Edzell hotels, but it happened to be the last day of 'eat out to help out' and we couldn't get a table.
We were there for a getaway in the countryside and Edzell was perfect for that. Somehow, we managed to get lucky and timed our holiday to coincide with four lovely sunny days after a very wet and windy August. We went walking every day. From the property, you can walk easily to the 'Shakkin Brig' or take a longer walk along the river gorge to the Rocks of Solitude. We also drove short distances to walk to a waterfall in Glen Mark and to see the Iron Age hill forts at the Caterthuns near Brechin. On the way home we stopped at Lunan Bay to walk along the beautiful sandy beach before driving to Arbroath for lunch at the Harbour restaurant.
A great little place to totally unwind, absolutely spotless and like a home from home. it has everything you need and the private hot tub was brilliant after a day out exploring. Alan the owner was brilliant and couldn’t do enough for us. It’s a fab place to stay to explore the East coast and it’s amazing Castles and coves. Will definitely be staying here again soon. The village is small but has everything you need, shops, cafe, 2 hotels with public bars etc.
The staff were fantastic, the food was great and the whole place felt very homely and comfortable. We decided on an impromptu night away somewhere comfortable and with an open fire to sit by. Well this hotel has 2 lounges with open fires and the staff kept them going for as long as we wanted. The restaurant was really good and food very tasty. The choice at the bar was 1st class, though a bit expensive.
Cottage nicely situated in centre of town. Cozy feel. Nice welcoming touch from Amanda. Good sized bedrooms. Great for dog walks. Local Panmuir Hotel perfect for pints and food superb also. Beach 20 to 30 min drive. Great whatever the weather. Ideal 4 night break with the family.
Lovely well equipped cottage in a quiet part of the lovely village of Edzell, in a beautiful area, close to some of the most wonderful beaches and within striking distance of loads of wonderful places to both see and visit.

The staff were excellent, friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel itself presents as a quite charming facility in a fabulous location.
