The B and B Dunsford (Hurst Hill) was an interesting stay… the older portion of the house we stayed in was well over 500 years old and it was made with used wood (maybe from ships), some of the used timber was determined by a carpenter to be as much as 1000 years old. The doors were very short in the old section… I brought home many souvenirs from the house on the front of my head… I had a very large collection of lumps. I hit my head on the way in and on the way out… not smart enough to learn to duck.
The stay was perfect in every way. The room was very nice and had a private bath. The owner’ dog (Winston) was very nice and good company. The location was remotely located south of London down single track roads which turned to gravel at the end. The road was in good shape compared to many we experienced in the U.K. It was very quiet at night and we slept well. The location was perfect to make short trips to see all the sights to the west, south and south east of London.
Guy was an excellent host and he could cook. We were always invited to the family dinner in the evening and joined his family and the other guests at a large table and enjoyed several very nice meals with great conversation, there is a cost of 15.00 pounds per guest for the evening meal; but, it was well worth the money. Breakfast came with the cost of the stay and it was perfectly prepared with fresh bread still warm from the oven which went very well with free range chicken eggs, sausage, mushrooms and bacon.
The gardens were beautiful and quite extensive around the property. Allen was an 89 year old gardener that knew what he was doing and managed to raise perfectly beautiful flowers and plants. He was one of those slow but steady types and was able to accomplish as much as a young man. His efforts resulted in many beautiful types of flowers and the smell of roses all around the property.
Rated a 5-star inn by the AA, the 600-year-old Crown Inn combines traditional character with modern room luxuries, including flat-screen TVs and DVD players.

Well equipped kitchen, with some seating so that meal prep could be social. Spacious main reception room with a big dining table, and big comfy armchair and sofas, with a huge smart Tv. 4 comfy double beds. Two nice showers. Humongous garden, not often you can go for a walk in a back garden!
We had a great time

We enjoyed our stay at Guys band b. It was a characterful property. The room was a good size and we had our own private bathroom with A bAth. The bed was comfortable and we both slept well. Our host was. very genial and helpful. The breakfast was tasty with home made bread. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside, and we saw deer in the woods
