Reception and checking-in were fine. We booked a cottage which was just a 1 min drive away. First impressions were good as it's clean and quiet as it's separate from the main hotel. The only gripe was that we asked for a walk-in shower as one of my party had mobility issues. That was sorted but I didn't realise that the main bedroom was upstairs and the bathroom was downstairs which defeated the point of having a walk-in shower. The stairs were carpeted etc but a tad on the steep side. It caused us an issue but as it was only 1 night, it wasn't a disaster just a pain.
On the positive side, it's a gorgeous cottage.
We had dinner the hotel which was very nice albeit expensive for Inverness (roughly 100 a head)
Would I stay again? yes but maybe the cottage next door if it has no stairs.

The room was very clean with tea and coffee making available. We were surprised to find there were no staff on the premises and no breakfast which made our stay less enjoyable

I've never written a review but this is the exception. Everything was perfect, the kindness of Karl and Carla, the magnificent room with a view of Loch Ness, the well-prepared dinner by a great chef Karl and the super breakfast. If you love Nessie or not! Don't hesitate... We are not yet at the end of our holiday but I think that you will remain the best establishment of our holiday. Thank you for everything. We won't forget you and we wish you all the best.... Lysiane & Olivier

Not the largest place we’ve visited, it’s on the less busy side of Loch Ness so very quiet, with one restaurant so book early if you want an evening meal.
The food was good and the price very reasonable
Perfect peaceful setting yet easy access to Inverness and surrounding area. Delightful , huge room with stunning views of the countryside . Breakfast room also had fabulous views . Guest lounge to relax in after sightseeing. Knowledgeable friendly host who even took us to and from local inn . Fabulous find and perfect for a few mindful days away from the stresses of everyday life . Lots to see within an hour of the area and more beyond . Highly recommend and will definitely return .
Everything. The care Marsalli puts in to the home and her guests is next level. I wish we could have stayed for a week. Our room was huge and comfortable. Breakfast was phenomenal (may I recommend the porridge?) and the animals all over the farm and house were a welcome treat. If you’re looking for a warm, Scottish country experience close to Inverness and all it offers, you must stay here.
This was the perfect start and end to our NC500 trip, we received a lovely warm welcome, the room was perfect with everything you could need. The location by the side of Loch Ness was the icing on the cake. John even left a bucket and sponge next to the hose pipe ready for my other half to clean the car before we set off - it made his day, thank you 😊
The position of Balachladaich is wonderful, breathtaking views onto Loch Ness . Very very comfortable bedroom, large shower room, nice touches, from Highland company toiletries, the coffee bags and fresh milk! A very good breakfast selection and just marvellous from start to finish, with super hosts!
John and Fiona were excellent hosts, welcoming, informative and friendly. Our room overlooked the loch which was beautiful and had a little balcony to sit out and enjoy the view. Large room and bed, very comfortable. Quiet location, but only a short drive into Inverness if you want it a bit busier.
Fabulous location, right on Loch Ness - swimming and paddling allowed.
Fantastic hosts - nothing was too much trouble.
Accommodation was first class.
Lovely breakfasts.
Cannot fault anything at all. Stayed for 3 nights and could easily have stayed for longer. We will definitely be back.
This place was wonderful, super comfortable and immaculate. The owner/hostess was helpful, friendly and just fantastic. Close to Loch Ness, but just off the beaten path enough to be perfect. Excellent breakfast and the room was exquisite. I wish I could give it even more stars than 10.
Balachladaich was absolutely wonderful. Lovely rooms and decor with panoramic views of Loch Ness. Beautiful location to stay. John and Fiona have created a relaxed atmosphere, with John being a great host and storyteller. Highly recommend this Guest House to all travellers.
I loved the location on Loch Ness with a gorgeous view of the lake! The breakfast was all delicious with good delicious coffee prepared! The owners are also super friendly and informative about the area! I very much enjoyed our morning chats over breakfast!
This is a fantastic place to stay. Beautiful house within easy distance to Loch Ness and Inverness. Marcie is a very friendly, accommodating host. Very nice and chilled vibe. And finally, beautiful spacious rooms with great views.
The location was perfect, right on Loch Ness for Nessie spotting. The room was comfortable and clean, well-appointed and functional. It was very quiet and tranquil.
Our host, John, could not have been more friendly or helpful.
house is lovely! the best i had experience with in scotland during my qp days roadtrip. owner is sooo nice and kind and the breakfast was very good and with a marvellous view. i felt like being at home sorrounded with nature
The location is serene and just nestled in a peaceful pocket of Dores. Overlooking the Loch. The birds chirping and the calmness of the place is unreal.
Good heating and decent breakfast.
Best B&B ever!
Super friendly host who really goes out of her way to make sure you have an enjoyable and comfortable stay. Room was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Short drive down to Loch Ness.
Great suggestions for the local area (dinner at Dores Inn), incredible porridge for breakfast, very comfortable room and the hosts were extremely nice. Much nicer than a generic hotel!
