Our stay at The Horseshoe was perfect. A lovely space with everything that we needed. Check in was quick and easy. As it's attached to the pub, we were worried that it would be noisy - in fact, it was quite the reverse! It felt very private and quiet.
The food in the pub was excellent.

The cleanliness and comfort of the room, how polite the owners were and the delicious breakfast! There was a petrol station and shop opposite which is great if you're driving around rural Scotland and need a lot of fuel
Great place to get away from the stresses of modern life.
Great place to get away from the stresses of modern life. Of particular interest to those interested in anything nautical. Recommended for fresh seafood lovers. Beautiful remote location at the termination of the northern end of the Crinan Canal, overlooking the Isle of Jura.

Stunning views and beutifull fresh air.there wasnt a great deal of choose from on the hotel menu although breakfast was delicious. The closest town is lochgilphead and there is very little or nothing to do here either but if you are choosing to holiday here its not for the night life anyway

When the canal is operating it's lively and fascinating to see it all in action. However, the canal was closed for maintenance or two days of our four day stay. If this is of interest it would be worth checking on the Scottish Canals website.
There is a coffee shop very close to the canal and the hotel which does a lovely range of snacks.
There are boat trips available in the area, not just those promoted by the hotel.
The Historic Scotland site at Dunaad is good for a short walk and spectacular views.

Staff, location and the room was excellent although the room needs a fridge freezer (our dog gets raw food) and wifi was non existent in our room, no 1. Although, I know that can sometimes be a plus point! The staff, from the girls who cleaned the rooms right down to the managers were all excellent as were the bar staff and waiters. The food was superb

Crinan Hotel is in a beautiful location on the edge of the Crinan Canal and looks out to sea. The public rooms are lovely but our bedroom was small, the bed wasn't a large double as stated and the ensuite was tired and needed renovating. The breakfast was good but not brilliant considering the hotel was twice the price we paid anywhere else on our 2 week tour of the highlands. We were disappointed.

Crinan has wonderful views over the sea to land on the other side of the bay and from the hotel upper floor also to the isle of Jura. Mountain peaks are visible in the far distance - Mull perhaps?
Crinan is a very, very small village, with one hotel and one cafe/restaurant.
If you are into sailing boats, there are some in the canal basin. Other than that, walking and bird watching are popular.
