The Old Pottery, Unique Views & Spa-like Bathroom, hotel in Ashburton

Set in Ashburton in the Devon region, The Old Pottery, Unique Views & Spa-like Bathroom features a patio. It is located 20 km from Newton Abbot Racecourse and offers luggage storage space.

Excellent communication from Catherine and great advice on directions and recommendations for Sunday lunch (The Cott Inn- amazing meal) and local walks. Made to feel very welcome. The Old Pottery is in a very rural area surrounded by fields and all you can hear if the sound of the birds. We only stayed two nights but the place was equipped as home from home. Dog friendly which is a bonus.

Everything about this place was perfect. I worked in the hospitality sector for many years and can honestly say that this place is the nearest to perfection I have found on my world travels to the ideals in what you expect to find in the very best hotels of international renown. It is luxury, without pretension, and makes you able to feel pampered yet welcome and very homely . Set in a beautiful location it is a gem set in a golden landscape. Wonderful breakfast too.

Furzeleigh Mill, hotel in Ashburton

Set in Buckfastleigh, Furzeleigh Mill has a restaurant, bar, garden, and free WiFi throughout the property. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a terrace.

Location - dead easy to find and so convenient for the A38, which took us straight to my parents' home (the reason for our visit). Nice dog walks to and from the Abbey, along the river. Stylish decor. Neat shower room. Staff absolutely lovely - welcoming and proactive in solving a problem (that wasn't really a problem at all!). Breakfast was really nice. The buffet fruit salad and yogurts both excellent; the cooked breakfasts to order were great (I loved my guacamole on toast); delicious bread - proper artisan bread. Gardens were inviting. We were able to take breakfast in the bar area, because we had a dog with us (dogs are not allowed in the restaurant for obvious reasons). This did not affect our enjoyment one bit. The staff were helpful in providing mint and ginger teas for our room, for which I am grateful.

The Cott Inn, hotel in Ashburton

Nestled in the village of Dartington between the Dartmoor National Park and the spectacular South Devon coastline, The Cott Inn has been serving since the 1300’s.

The breakfast was excellent and cheerfully served, and the dinner likewise. It was nice to have a bath in the room, and I enjoyed the fact that the place had been 'licensed since 1320' (although documentary evidence confirming this may be elusive!)

Corndonford farm, hotel in Ashburton

Offering a garden and garden view, Corndonford farm is situated in Newton Abbot, 27 km from Newton Abbot Racecourse and 44 km from Sandy Park Rugby Stadium.

Steeped in history. Lovely people. I like spiral stone staircases and all that goes with a medieval longhouse - and chatting to Granny Annie was magical... a beautiful garden too.

Beautiful town with loads of independently run shops and a couple of restaurants. Great base for day trips further afield too such as the many picturesque beaches that are about 30 minutes by car. Beware of the roads. Incredibly narrow!

The hotel is about half an hour from Plymouth and is an ideal place for an overnight stop before catching the ferry to Santander. However it is surrounded by countryside although situated just off the main road. Other travellers staying were exploring the Dartmoor countryside either on bikes or walking. The staff were very personable and attentive. We had an exceptional meal in the restaurant at night. The breakfast was good and our room was compact but adequate. We would definitely stay again and recommend it to others.

Near to Buckfast Abbey which is well worth a visit and has undergone a thorough restoration. On the very edge of Dartmoor and all the beautiful scenery and walks that it has to offer. Easy access to Plymouth via A38. There is a steam train in Buckfastleigh that runs to Totnes where you can get a boat to Dartmouth. Ashburton is famous for its Antique shops and the village itself is well worth a walk around'

Beautifully restored house in a convenient position to wander all of Ashburton's shops, galleries, pubs and cafes. Well stocked house for self- catering, even charcoal for the BBQ has been provided. Fantastic space even with 8 of us staying. Two master bedrooms, another double and a twin. Three bathrooms and a downstairs toilet. Ashburton is a quaint town close to the A38 and with easy access to Dartmoor. The whole house is furnished with antiques and old paintings.

The staff really did make this place, the open fire also helped a bit. I thought I wasn't going to enjoy my stay as the accommodation is (only my view of course) a little dated and does need some updating. But, I very quickly put my initial thoughts on the back burner and saw a little beyond what I first saw. All the staff are very professional, polite and courteous, a pleasure for me to have stayed I can tell you

All the food we ate at the Dartford Lodge was very good: freshly made for us. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The owner who initially met us was more than helpful and very friendly. The bed was extremely comfortable and the towels were soft, large and better than we have experienced in other hotels. The whole experience was far better than my husband and I expected. Thank you to all involved.

Beautiful apartment with high ceilings, thoughtfully curated furniture, beautiful fittings and stunning attention to detail. Also brilliantly located in the heart of Ashburton. It's set back off the street so very quiet. Adrian was a lovely and very kind host and made us feel very at home and made sure we had everything we needed at all times. I cannot recommend this place enough!!

The location was great fir exploring Dartmoor and is in the middle of the pretty village of Ashburton. Although the pub doesn’t have the trendy refurb that many pubs have it does have a warm welcome of a local and the friendly landlord Dave cooks a great breakfast - thanks Dave!

The airstream was beautiful and had been decorated really nicely. Amazing to have a hot shower in the outdoors in the middle of nowhere. The hot tub was awesome! Loved the cows that came to see us. We could walk into Ashburton (but it's a long walk - not to be done lightly).
