We were greeted with a warm welcome from a professional team.
Enjoyed the house lager that complemented the food, which was amazing.
The room was nice and spacious. Also very clean, which is always important to us.
We found a hidden gem with "The Boat Inn"
You can glimpse majestic ospreys plunging into the loch, relax in the sumptuous spa, or take on two 9-hole golf courses amidst idyllic scenery at The Lodge.

Aboyne is a delightful large village set amongst beautiful scenery. It seems to have a real community feel about it and the public spaces are clean and well cared for. We preferred it to the very touristy Ballater down the road and would stay here again.

We didn't stop in the town of Aboyne itself, but if (or rather, when!) we go back, we will do so, as it looked very pleasant as we drove through. The scenery in the area is beautiful, and we enjoyed our drives around the area. There are plenty of placed of interest to visit and a super-abundance of castles. We greatly enjoyed our day at Castle Fraser.

Beautiful place with great access to river and woodland walks. Quaint feel.
A few solid local establishments to eat and drink, including the Boat Inn which has a great atmosphere and food/bar.
A little scarce on eateries open later, particularly on weeknights. Most places closed by 8pm, although would highly recommend Nurtaj, the local Indian restaurant! Beautiful inside, lovely staff, amazing food.
Aboyne was also a good base for accessing other places, with excellent road links out towards Inverness, Aberdeen, the Moray coast, and more.
Not touristy in the best way.
Beautiful place.

Lovely little town to visit, very quiet and peaceful with interesting buildings. Highly recommended if you're visiting the Cairngorms, Aberdeen or anywhere nearby. The Boat Inn is an amazing place to stay as well as for a meal or drinks with lovely indoor and outdoor spaces. Nice little play park for kids and fields for dogs to run around in too.
So glad we chose to stay at Struan Hall. We arrived a bit tired from travelling and were made very comfortable in a lovely lounge with coffee and home-baked cake and shortbread. This was followed by a whisky and sherry before we headed out for dinner. The room was beautiful and very clean +comfortable. The breakfast next morning was amazing also. Judith and George are great hosts and provide high quality hospitality. All the pictures you see and reviews you read are spot on. Definitely recommend.
I don’t often write reviews, however we found Lys-Na-Greene so exceptional that it wouldn’t be right not to write one in this instance. Extremely comfortable, spacious, and well furnished en-suite bedroom and common area, and excellent hospitality including breakfast provided by owners Joyce and Garry. Beautiful setting and grounds. While more expensive than what we typically pay for B&B type accommodation, it was well worth the difference. We hope to return.
A group of us stayed at this beautiful property set in a stunning location just a short walk from Aboyne local shops pubs and restaurants.
The entire house was spotless, each bedroom sizeable as befits a house of this era with all individually and tastefully decorated.
It was perfect for our larger group and would also be great for family get togethers with its large, comfortable and superb very well equipped communal areas
You could not wish for a better location or better hosts. The scenery is stunning and everything inside the hotel has been extremely well thought out. Joyce and Garry went out of their way to make sure everything was catered for and the home made cakes each afternoon when we returned to the hotel was a very nice touch (as was the Whisky!)Incredible breakfast too.A first class experience and we will definitely be returning.
Really enjoyed our stay at the Lodge! Owners were very welcoming and gave suggestions on local things to do. The scenary is beautiful and the location was great for visiting Ballater, Balmoral, Crathes Castle, etc. We had breakfast and dinner at the Lodge and both were wonderful. Loved exploring the region and this was a great base to do that from. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
the facility was obviously modernized well but held the charm of an older establishment very well. the rooms were very well decorated food and meal service was really great. It was hot while we were there so no AC was noticeable but we did not have AC anywhere in our visit to Scotland so I can hardly fault them there. This was easily our favorite property of the trip!
Location right next to the river - Aboyne is a charming place
Decor in rooms was lovely - definitely not a bland chain hotel style
Breakfast was delicious and the best selection we’ve had anywhere in Scotland - have the french toast!
Bathroom was large compared to the size of the bedroom
Friendly staff - so relaxed but happy to do anything
Fiona and Peter were so accommodating to all our needs and responded quickly to all of our inquiries. The property is absolutely beautiful and the most relaxing spot with easy commute to Aberdeen by car. The perfect weekend that we needed!
Joyce and Garry are wonderful hosts. We felt at home in their lovely B&B and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Their excellent knowledge of the surrounding area including hikes was great! Breakfast is a great treat to start the day.
Gorgeous, elegantly decorated, and in a wonderful location on the Dee River. There are lot’s of things to see and do in this part of Scotland.
Thank you Joyce & Garry.
