The smell and atmosphere is typical of a nice tavern and you would feel immediately in the medieval Germany. Wooden beams are featured in the building’s walls. Our room had a nice view of the old town, moreover it was spacious and comfortable, ideally for a family of 4. Breakfast was good and plenty. The staff was super friendly.

It's within walking distance to shops, restaurants, the botanical garden, the Palace Park. The hotel itself is adjacent to another historical palace which is still family owned. The Hotel am Palais is wonderfully decorated in Indonesian style. I was not expecting such a getaway.

The Loft/apartment was lovely, very spacious and clean. The location is great - just on the outskirts of Gelnhausen's old town but takes about two minutes to walk to the old town centre. We enjoyed our stay
