Exceptional, situated in a tropical garden in the grounds of a private gated estate.
A short walk to a quiet beach perfect for swimming and surfing.
The in-house cuisine was excellent with fresh seafood and meat with the crunchiest freshest vegetables I’ve ever eaten. 10/10.
Each night they had live music which was a massive bonus. The music wasn’t loud and in your face, more a perfect in harmony with the environment and the guests.
One last thing is the guests, a really interesting eclectic mix of people with a really friendly and interesting outlook.

Best part was the location of the accommodation, right by the playa grande beach. so it was great to wake up and go for a walk.
Offering a bar and pool view, La Buena Vida Cabinas is situated in Playa Grande, less than 1 km from Playa Ventanas and a 11-minute walk from Grande Beach.
Playa grande was such a relaxing place. The beach sunsets were amazing! Took an estuary tour with Luis right off the beach - private tour for 2 was only $70 and we saw crocodiles, monkeys and amazing birds. Tamarindo is a fun day trip (taking the water taxi, or asking to be dropped off there after the boat tour). There is a cool food truck court at the end and behind the beach that has an iguana walking about. Tamarindo was nice if you like lots of people and lots of bar and food choices but playa grande was so much more chill of a spot. Loved it and will be back! Cantarana cafe had the best coffee and almond croissants and dinner upstairs was really good. Servers for breakfast and dinner were fabulous! The Tortuga was a great spot - with the most delicious fish bites I’ve ever had! Cafe Mar Azul was so much fun- Sunday night entertainment needs a reservation. Such a good price for amazing fish dinners.

Playa Grande is perfect for running or walking on the beach, however not for swimming, snorkeling or floating. On the other side of Playa Grande (crossing the river) there is Tamarindo, a crazy town full of tourists with its own long beach. If you are looking for a laid back place, Tamarindo is NOT where you want to be. Lots of traffic and tons of people walking in the streets and hanging around. Can't imagine what is like in high season. Stores have beautiful clothes but they are pretty expensive. Definitely a surfing town, everyone walks with a board under their arm...lol.

Location, beautiful beach , facilities and great bed !
Location, beautiful beach , facilities and great bed !
Lovely responsive employees!
Restaurant next door offered excellent food .
Not sure why everything had to be paid in cash eg car rides, trips etc . That was inconvenient.
One has to have cash on hand as most business was done that way. However we were told only in “ low” season.
The location was small and intimate and easy to access by foot. A car wasn’t always needed.

Beautiful beach line. Great for surfing and boogie boarding.
Beautiful beach line. Great for surfing and boogie boarding. Trees at the beach provide plenty of shade. Long and picturesque shore line is excellent to walk in the morning or at dawn hours. Amazing sunsets.

Nice quiet area.
Nice quiet area. A limited but good selection of eating places nearby. the beach is great for walking, swimming or riding a bike. It does not have shade trees on the beach. Lots of different birds.
Go to Hotel El Manglar to book mangrove estuary boat tour. it is very good. Playa Grande is much quieter than Tamarindo but it is about 40 minute drive if you want to go to Tamarindo.

I liked the area, which is a very long beach near the national park. Note that access can be limited, as it is a very bumpy and unpaved road from the national park entrance to the villas at the end of the peninsula towards Tamarindo.
Beach was fine enough to walk in - lots of shells and surfers. Water wasn't cold, but wasn't totally warm either, comfortable temperature to walk.
If you walk down to the end of the peninsula, water taxis that are only $2 will take you over to Tamarindo, so in the end it's nice to be a bit secluded away from the action, yet still have access to shopping and entertainment if you need it. Just wave to the guys at the other end!
We had such an awesome time, wish we had stayed for more than 1 night! Felipe was a great host and was incredibly helpful and welcoming.
Pipe House was beautiful. The beds were comfortable and the AC was great to have. Facilities were always clean and so were the common areas. Breakfast was delicious! The beach was less than 1 minute walk away and had few people walking/surfing.
I had an amazing stay at Playa Grande Surf Camp for two weeks. It's the perfect place to chill, rest and meeting new people.
Nice vibes, such a quiet place and easy to work/study online at the same time. Personal staff is so kind and helpful.
The beach is so close and it's a great place to improve your surfing skills.
I would definitely recommend this place.
The owners Mathew and Natalie were so nice, they are helpful in every situation. Breakfast was tasty and fresh. You can easily reach the beach by a few minutes walk. Playa Grande is a fantastic beach. Waves are great. Room was very clean and and comfortable, with a kitchen to use, they offer a fast laundry service. Big Thanks to Mathew and Natalie
Is very clean, and relaxing, what do you see in the pictures it has concordance with the place, is near to the beach and a market where the food is very good and affordable, the restaurant of the owners (cantarana) close to the hotel has very nice atmosphere and excellent food with a great balance between price-quality at walking by distance
This hotel is like a little Oasis! The customer service is awesome and although you need a car to move around, you are right at the perfect location close to beautiful beaches…a short drive to Tamarindo and other beaches. The room was very comfortable and the pool super refreshing after a long day under the sun.
The location was awesome, it’s in a private/gated community so we felt safe. We could walk to the another restaurant or eat at the location. The private entrance to the beach was cozy and nice. The bed was comfortable and not a lot of people so it was quaint. The staff was very attentive even after hours.
We enjoyed the property location (close to 5 beaches) , security, views, breakfast (coffee was AWESOME). Natalia was very nice and always willing to help. The AC at the room was awesome.
Property’s location is near Parque Nacional Marino Las Baulas.
The hotel is located right at the playa grande beach, meaning one can simply walk to the beach and just enjoy it. The hotel has a restaurant that serves all meals, which is pretty useful considering that there is not much else going on in the area.
absolutely beautiful, well payed out and very clean! Restaurant was delicious and the staff were so kind. So relaxing and fun with a short walk to the beach for surfing, swim and watching the beautiful sunsets.
This is a rare find! It has so much charm and Costa Rican authenticity! It had everything I wanted...pool, very close beach access, boogie boards, bikes, restaurant with yummy food, and a gym. Very lovely!
Atmosphere is very chill (hammocks, pool), staff is very friendly, helpful and professional. I like the Playa Grande beach more than Tamarindo, more calm, amazing sunsets
great spot with beach access ( 200ft away)
little sanctuary , peaceful and quite.
restaurant located right next door.
Highly recommend for peace of mind.
The Playa grande beach was spectacular, lot's of open wide sand and seashells, beautiful water.
The sunsets were also beautiful , lot's of nature to see
