The monkeys in the tree every day! The people that worked there were so lovely and couldn’t do enough for us and our baby. We loved the treats every day in the room too!

You must have a car to get around to the beaches of Montezuma and the roads are rough. Grocery stores are hard to find if you want to cook at all in your rented villa. Ocean super warm and wonderful--loved Tambor beach. Wonderful fresh fish market there.

Very small town with little to do. 3-5 nights is more than enough time to see the area. Tourists (and locals) on loud motorbikes and ATVs are everywhere day and night. Not the quiet jungle getaway we imagined.

Montezuma is such a great place.
Montezuma is such a great place. So chilled, the locals are so welcoming and it just does its own thing. There are a number of good places to eat in the very small town so try everywhere out especially in the farthest reaches of town. And shop around for trips. There can be quite a difference in price with the different outlets.
During turtle hatching season, be sure to go to the beach to the left of the town and you'll see them dug up and then marching to the sea. It's a heartwarming and unique experience. Also, go back to that beach at night to see the most wonderful stars.

Small but charming and lively resort.
Small but charming and lively resort. Excellent restaurants (particularly fish dishes in 'los Artesanos') and cafes and very easy to book tours through local operators. Crashing rollers and risk of dangerous riptides made swimming somewhat risky, though ideal for surfers. A 40 minute walk along beachside path to north brings you to the magnificent beach of Playa Grande where swimming is a little safer, if not risk-free. A short walk to the south is Montezuma waterfall; it's a must-see although access requires proper footwear and some scrambling/rope work. Swimming in the refreshing pool and launching oneself from the adjacent rocks beneath the falls is highly recommended; not so, climbing up the slippery rocks immediately adjacent to the waterfall as exhibited by some foolhardy locals!

This is a very welcoming place made with a thought for the guests and their comfort! It has everything you need for a top experience, the team was perfect - they take care of all you may need, so you can simply be and enjoy life at the Montezuma beaches! Having the option to cook your own meal, makes it perfect for families with children, but very near-by there are also good restaurants - from 5 stars ones to the simple Sodas - and if you can - dont miss the Soda (Artesanos) nearby, the food there was superb and the prices - surprising in a good way!

It's a very small village, but it has its vibe. Moreover, there are many things to do around: hiking, surfing, swimming, watching bioluminescence, trip to the Isla de Tortuga is also possible.
There are plenty of beaches around, which are within walking distance.
Despite its size, there are a few very decent restaurants where I would like to go back.
If you are not looking for a crazy party place, it's a fantastic spot for a vacation.
We stayed for 2 nights in July. The hotel was in a good location in town. It didn’t have a restaurant and it’s good that the restaurants & bars are walking distance. The room that we had was at the back so it was quiet. It had an outdoor patio furniture and a hammock and had a view of the pool. The pool was clean and it is nice to have one since it is very warm in Montezuma. Gabriel and Victor were helpful and friendly.
After staying in a rundown hotel in Montezuma, we changed for sunshine sanctuary. We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and amazing sea view of the place. The breakfast was good ( coffee , fruit plate , French toast , eggs). The owner, Anastacia, was warm and friendly. There is a private hanging bridge to Montezuma (15 mins walk) .If you are staying in Montezuma, come here instead of staying in town !
I met many friendly people in my short time here. A social hostel in an extraordinary location. Right by the beach and walking distance to town. Affordable and comfortable. If you’re here you have to try the soda across the street! If you’re visiting from San Jose, plan for a day of travel. I took 2 buses and a ferry and got to Montezuma in ~8 hours. Glad I made the trip!
This is a nice hotel close to the center of Montezuma (5 min distance walking). Do not expect luxury, but more kind of rustic hotel. However, the vibes are super cool and nice, and the garden is a superplus. Breakfast was not included but we tried. Was a great decision, since it was delicious!! Hope to come back again in the future
Unfortunately I only had a short stay one night at this nice hotel due to my travel plans . The hotel is located in the middle of the area so it was busy around. Consequently have heard the party at night in the park . Nevertheless it’s a beautiful place with a nice pool area and my room was super clean and comfortable.
An amazing pool with a view over the jungle and ocean in the far distance, surrounded by a beautiful tropical garden. All the staff was very polite and friendly. Great breakfast. Also, you don’t need a 4x4 to get there despite what some people say. But you need a car, it’s not within walking distance from Montezuma.
Breakfast was a generous portion and well balanced.
We rented the holiday home which was amazing, but was a little big for 2 people. I totally recommend families to try it out.
The hotel is very close to the busy part of this amazing neighborhood which features many restaurants by the beach and other amenities.
The hotel is a gorgeous renewed colonial villa, surrounded by great nature. It was passible to see monkeys and other insects/ animals. The owners/ managers were great, very nice and welcoming. Breakfast was amazing. Overall the best stay of our 3 weeks in Costa Rica. Absolutely recommend
Have stayed at Pura Vida Hostel Montezuma many, many times throughout my travels to Costa Rica. Each time returning to beautiful Montezuma I book myself in to Pura Vida Hostel. Love this hostel. Clean, friendly and with helpful staff members. Thank you guys for being so very welcoming.
Hotel Horizontes de Montezuma was booked based on reviews, proximity to our previous location and short term availability. The hotel itself has potential since it is a nice two floor white building with a glass window in the roof.
Our stay here was amazing, and wished we could have stayed another night! It was very unique and quaint. We were able to walk to Montezuma for pizza, but the hosel still felt very secluded. Tucked into the jungle:)
We ate at the hotel restaurant. We were the only family dining but they had a chef and waiter on hand. I had the good fortune to enjoy a fish fillet of snook, which was wonderful. The sushi was excellent as well.
The location, despite being on the main road into Montezuma, is great if you've got transportation -- car or 4-wheeler. The rooms are plain but functional, showers have hot water with great pressure.
It really is as described but more beautiful. beds very comfortable. great to have AC at night. it’s very quiet yet so close to Montezuma town. the town has some terrific restaurants.
The location is amazing, as well as the nature that surrounds the hotel. Swimming pool is very relaxing, and the rooms are spacious and beds super comfi.
