Beautifully appointed hotel. Could not fault anything. Staff were friendly, gracious and efficient. Dinner at Grains and drinks at the bar were both fantastic. Plenty of parking. Having a beautiful black lab to welcome guests was a huge bonus - thank you Archie!

The bed was comfy, the room was very clean and the separate private bathroom was great as well. Good sized room and fantastic sound-proofing...I could hardly hear the pub underneath at night. Lovely friendly staff and great food in the pub. Also a good location, I could walk to other restaurants and parks and shops as needed. Pretty easy to get there and street parking available if you can't get into the small car park.

Launceston is a relaxing town with plenty of well...

Launceston is a relaxing town with plenty of well preserved early Australian colonial era buildings which gives it a nice old feel like Ballarat or inner Sydney. In comparison, Melbourne has largely replaced its 1850's gold rush architecture and slower pace of life from the 1800's with hideous steel and glass towers and grid lock traffic. Launceston makes a good base for before and after completing the challenging Overland Track hike in Alpine Tasmania. It is a pleasant place to walk around for half a day. We found some places to eat with acceptable/ affordable versions of food from Singapore and other East Asian restaurants( albeit tailored to the largely white Anglo local population's palates ). You won't get an authentic Japanese Soba Noodles meal !!.So trust me on this one, because I know. In Launceston on weekdays trekkers can easily obtain necessary outdoor gear supplies , such as: attire; freeze dried meals ;stove fuel and spirit burners( The latter two items are banned on airlines) for multi day independent bushwalking and hiking in Alpine Tasmania . The airport is a 30 minute taxi ride from the town centre.

Lovely little city on a river. Lots to see and do. Must see the Gorge and walk the lovely walks there. Waterfront restaurants, Family friendly places to visit. Safe for women travelling on their own. (use common sense) Penny Royal accommodation is close to everything and family friendly. Just go down drive and you are almost on the bridge that takes you into the Gorge.

Being a city person, Launceston was a lot quieter than expected. There aren't many shops/restaurants around but enough. If you are into nature, hiking and camping, then Launceston and its surroundings is the perfect goldmine. We loved Cradle Mountain and the endless hikes it offered. There are many quaint little coastal towns to explore too up north.

There are a lot of short trips from Launceston for viewing other locations of interest. We did the short river cruise which was very interesting. Lots of good dining facilities in and around Launceston. Great motor Museum for car lovers. Enjoyed our time in the City Park - definitely worth devoting a few hours. Another location we enjoyed was the Cataract Gorge.

What a fabulous place! The Audlington Hotel was one of the best accommodations I've ever stayed in. The owner was very helpful and knowledgable, showing me everything necessary to have a comfortable stay. The room was large, the bed very comfortable, and the towels were the best I've ever experienced. The spa bath was very welcome after many hours of driving and walking, and the view from the balcony over Launceston was lovely. Easy to walk downtown or the river, with plenty of good restaurants and shops nearby.

Super cute studio and it was such a lovely surprise that Michelle the host made us feel welcome with simple but endearing gestures like eggs, milk, bread, coffee, a bottle of wine and more , we’ve travelled a lot and that level of detail isn’t often found, even the kitchen amenities was well thought out. 13 mins from Launceston central, 7mins one way and 5 mins the other and your at the pub , Riverside Hotel has our vote , food was sensational for a pub meal.

Compares other hotels we've stayed in Launceston, Windarra gave us the home feel, home neighbourhood feel & parking right in front of the house also feels like we're at home. Deco in the room is lovely. Our room, #5 - many windows & the view from window & the balcony is beautiful. Gordon is so friendly & helpful. Simple English breakfast is included. Note: This is a big villa with different rooms in it, each booking books 1 room (not the whole house)

We left the property as the facilities were not nice and our bathroom smelt strongly of cigarettes. Not sure how the cleaning staff aren’t flagging that someone had been smoking in the room to save others the hassle. We went to another hotel in Launceston and despite not being able to get a refund on the room because we booked through booking.com it was the best decision to leave as we had the most wonderful time there.

This is a very old hotel that is on the edge of the city centre. The room was ok with the bathroom being the only really modernized portion. The rest of the hotel was quite worn with carpets in the hallways and stairs very dated and not very clean. Staff was nice and helpful. The city park, Boag Brewery are close but otherwise not a lot of close walking destinations or restaurants.

The staff at Balmoral were incredible, always very welcoming and on hand to assist. I had a later check in upon arrival and this was no issue - and each morning they were there to assist with the breakfast - which as a bonus inclusion - as well as any requests. The rooms were neat and tidy and location is perfectly within the Launceston CBD.
