Alice Springs is a city with many problems that only they can resolve, however it is the closest place to Uluru to fly to from most cities in Australia. The Doubletree nextdoor would be a much more desirable place for many travelers to spend a night. If staying longer, there are many interesting attractions, including a world-class animal preserve, to enjoy. The advice many Australians gave us was to avoid downtown. I would concur. We needed to do some grocery shopping prior to driving to Uluru, so we had no choice.

    A place on the decline.

A place on the decline. Very few local businesses still open or operating. Few options other than pub meals available. Drinks in local bars very expensive. Do not go out on your own in town after 2100 hrs. Be prepared to be humbugged by the local indigenous people. Thought I was travelling through parts of South Africa with high fences and barbed wire. Can't see myself returning again, there's no reason.

First we visited the Town's Information center, Staff were excellent and provided all information we needed for our 3 day tour, Places we visited , West and East Macdonald ranges, Anzac Hill / Tower, There are lots of Gauges and natural landscapes are breathtaking, There are places you can eat, and buy things that you need , but make sure to carry sufficient liquor as only 3 days that bottle shops are opened, and limited hours,

It was a nice town that has been effected by covid - not as bustling as it used to be with most shops on Todd Mall closed down but there are efforts underway to revitalise which will be great - fantastic to see all the local art

    Alice Springs just worked!

Alice Springs just worked! I was there for Desert Mob so I had things to do for most days. I hired a car for one day and went to Desert park. It was great! The transport was very good, I loved the beautiful trees and plants and all the services were provided with a friendly approach. the bookshop was great!

LOCALS ARE GREAT. THE TOWN IS GREAT. VERY RELAXED.

LOCALS ARE GREAT. THE TOWN IS GREAT. VERY RELAXED. JUST AVOID THE WHINGERS RUNNING HOTELS AND ANYONE NOT BORN IN AUSTRALIA. THEY GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO SCARE AND PUT FEAR INTO VISITORS FOR NO GOOD REASON AND DO NOT EMPLOY ANY AUSTRALIANS.

Kathy and Karl were wonderful hosts. They fed us when we arrived late enough that everything was closed, and on our return for a second night, let us do our laundry and hang it on the line. Kathy’s breakfasts were delicious and Karl’s gardens were beautiful. We stayed one night, drove north, and came back to stay a second time. It was like coming home!! We enjoyed our conversations, appreciated the help we were given, and loved all the extra touches given to us. Our stay in Alice Springs was made better because we stayed here.

This is a pleasant hotel close to the town centre. There's a lot to like- nice surrounds and trees,, good car parking, nice pool, restaurant onsite with outside seating aswell. I had a lovely meal and breakfast there. Staff were lovely and helpful. An average room, the bathroom was great-updated, good shower pressure. The room was quiet too, I couldn't hear tv's or voices from other rooms. The place has everything you need for a stay in Alice Springs.

The hostel is probably the most unusual I've ever been to but that's exactly what makes it so awesome and memorable. I literally slept in an old-fashioned trailer which wasn't big but for a night or two it's all I need :) The kitchen was clean and there was enough space in the garden to just hang around. If I ever come back to Alice Springs I'll definitely check in here again :)

The room was nice and large. Our hosts were extremely friendly. We could use the kitchen and outside there were several BBQs. It was very nice to sit in the garden in the evening. Our host even lit a fire for us. Breakfast also was great. Would definitely recommend to stay here when in Alice Springs. Thank You Ian and Helen!

The pool is nice - shaded and sunny areas. Felt very safe on hotel/casino grounds. Alice Springs downtown area does not feel safe. Stick with the chicken schnitzel for dinner and you won't be disappointed. We went to the Kangaroo Sanctuary and Uluru. Both tour companies picked us up at hotel.
