This is our second time to stay at the castle.
This is our second time to stay at the castle. You can not imagine how nice it was to bring our granddaughter and her husband with us. What a wonderful stay . Meals were excellent, the veranda seating was outstanding, food was so perfectly done and the staff was way beyond excellent. We asked for some changes in our menu and the senior waiter was on top of everything! We are old but if we could we will come again!Banks - 10Scored 10

We really enjoyed the medieval feel of the town. They were preparing for a medieval festival while we were there. We wished we could have visited one of the wine restaurants, but they were closed until almost dinner time, and we had reservations at the Schoenberg castle restaurant (which also offered wonderful wines!)

Oberwesel has all the features of a typical historical town along the Rhine river, but it is less busy than nearby Bacharach or Sankt Goar. The town itself could do with some more restaurants and cafés. The scenery is woinderful, with excellent hiking and walking trails (towards the Loreley, or towards Bacharach). Oberwesel is a relatively small town in a great situation on the Rhine. It has a selection of shops for all essentials including a Lidl and Rewe and touristy ones. It also has a selection of cafes and restaurants and easy access to other locations which widen the choice further. Oberwesel is a lovely old place with lots of places to visit. The castle on top of the hill is fantastic with a big view. There are lots of old buildings and part of the town wall is still standing. On some parts of it you can walk on top. In another area there are still towers in it. On the river Rhine which has a walk and cycle path along it in both directions.

We just spent one night in Oberwesel and it was fine. Walked to the sights and caught a cruise on Rhine it was our last night exploring Rhine area before heading back to states we loved the apple streudel and coffee at the cafe on main drag by our hotel
