With the basilica looming above it, there's a real sense of history about this town. Very filmic atmosphere. Lovely river frontage and great cycleways and walkways. The town square has its own wishing well fountain a la Trevi.
it's close by train to Budpest and definitely worth a weekend or more stay

Lots of colourful pansies everywhere, a very clean and well kept town with plenty of cafes and bars. Wonderful views over the Danube from the castle at the top of the hill. Well worth a visit as it is less than 2 hours from Budapest on the train.

Esztergom is a charming little town, with pretty streets and a wonderful cathedral to visit. It's easy walking distance everywhere. We ate in the evening in a great restaurant not far from the river called Mediterraneo, which we would thoroughly recommend. There was also a cracking little venue called Sportalsó which had live music on.

The scenery was really nice, but we couldn't get up on the train, which was supposed to get around the town.We wanted to go for a boat trip or something, but it was closed and not many information was around about that. The bus which was taking us into the town was clean and nice, the price wasn't expensive either.I recommend Paddy's,it was perfect, the food excellent, not to expensive and the service also excellent.

You don't need to stay in Esztergom.
You don't need to stay in Esztergom. Just visit the Basilica and Castle and go back. In winter, even on Saturday almost all stores and cafes were closed. We couldn't do anything in cold weather.

The best for me is the Primatial Basilica of the Blessed Virgin Mary Assumed Into Heaven and St Adalbert.
Is easy to go for others cities, they have good connections.
The people don't speak almost nothing of English.
This was our second say in the boutique hotel and this time we got the king room. It is even more beautiful than the queen and that’s saying a lot. The property is renovated to the highest standard and we just didn’t want to leave. It is very centrally located, bus stop is 2 minutes, thermal baths 5 minutes, basilica 15 minutes walk. The breakfast place is a comfortable 3 minutes walk and they give you a very generous alacarte breakfast.
Hotel was better than i expected. Price included both breakfast and buffet dinner and also entrance to the waterpark.
Breakfast included even sparkling wine :-). For dinner they have nice selection of wines for every budget.
Very easy to walk to Slovakia and back. Parking area is large although you have to be careful should you wish to park a very large car a la Superb or Escalade.
Perfect outdoor pool, spacious indoor spa with a lot of hot pools, whirpools, and river also. Good food, good drinks. Perfect views at Danube river. For biking lovers, very nice bike route to Esztergom (however, the first part - app. 1 km - goes along the main road with car traffic). Altogether, very positive experience!
Pannonia Apartment is a charming. very unique apartment. There are 3 apartments in a unique round house in a good location in Esztergom. We were on bikes and there is a good, secure area for bike storage. Communication with the host was very good and questions were answered quickly. Highly recommend.
It was a very hot day so we really appreciated the air conditioner. As we were riding and wanted to leave early the next morning, because of the heat, we were granted an early breakfast. This was very helpful and really kind. The room was quiet.
The location is good as it's near the Basilica, so you have everything in walking distance. The hotel also has its own parking lot if you travel by car. The staff was very nice, the room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was also good.
The staff were very helpful. There was some confusion because there are two Hotel Adelberts in Esztergom, but Evelyn went above and beyond to help us find the correct one. Location was great. Breakfast was very good.
Spacious rooms. Wellness/swimming area extensive but one has to consider that the hotel doesnot have own facilities but offers a direct, covered, access to the public acqua park. Incuded in the price of room.
Very clean. Nice new furniture. Location - in the center. The hotel has free private parking place .
Pets are allowed. We were with our dog .
Breakfast can be better , no vegan options.
Very, very friendly staff! Efficient and perfect in their handling and communication of the rent.
Perfect place in the center of Esztergom for to persons travelling together.
