My room was spacious , spotless and quiet. The hotel location is great. And… the reception spoke English and actually understood my fast kiwi . A bonus. Breakfast was great and coffee awesome. This hotel was closed for about 18months after pandemic and I for one are really pleased for them that business is doing well. I have been to Bergamo a few times but I will always stay here in the future and would highly recommend this hotel.

We had dinner at the restaurant and the food was Michelin star quality. The service was excellent and the manager and waiter made special efforts to meet our requests. The location on top of the old town of Bergamo is fantastic and the breakfast was also exceptional.
With a peaceful location, panoramic views across Parco dei Colli National Park, and a 2000 m² garden, La Valletta Relais is 1.2 km outside Bergamo Alta, reached by free shuttle.

The arrival point of low-cost airlines and cheap flights to Milan, beautiful Bergamo is a tourist destination in its own right. In the foothills of the Alps, the city is spread over 2 levels. The main sights are in the upper level, or Città Alta, where sloping, cobbled streets open into pretty squares.
One such square is Piazza Vecchia with its pavement cafés, beautiful library and elegant Palazzo della Ragione. Through its arches is the Cappella Colleoni, an impressive chapel with an ornately sculpted façade and even more ornate interior. The next door Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore has awe-inspiring frescoes.
Surrounding streets contain several Bergamo old town hotels and B&Bs, while surrounding the whole upper city are 17th-century Venetian walls. There are still remains of the Rocca, the castle that guarded them, and there is also a castle in San Vigilio, a hilltop village reached by funicular railway.
A funicular also descends to the modern town – Città Bassa. Nearby is the Accademia Carrara, a fine art gallery, and opposite is the GAMEC modern art museum. The Serie A club Atalanta FC play in a stadium to the north-east, while south-west is the train station from where buses to Orio al Serio Airport depart.
Booking.com offers several Bergamo hotels near the airport and the neighbouring Orio Centre shopping complex.

Bergamo is a very easy city to navigate and is not too swamped by traffic. Very clean and friendly. The old town part of the city - Citta Alta - was beautiful, very atmospheric with lots to see and plenty of restaurants. Bergamo is also a great base to travel elsewhere in the region by train, Milan less than an hour away and Verona around 2 hours distance. Transport around the city to the train station if needed or to the airport are cheap and very regular.

The old city is 20min by taxi from train/bus station.
The old city is 20min by taxi from train/bus station. You can take public transport but due to time we didnt try this. Bergamo old city is on a hill and you can go by car but most go by the funicular. There are only 45 persons per trip which takes 10mins but there is often a queue so best to ensure plenty of time if you are on a tight schedule. You can see most of the old town within 1-2 hours. The highlights are the churches and the restaurants. Some of restaurants serve traditional Bergamo food and wine and is definitely worth trying. They have a traditional pasta Scarpinocc, which is like a ravioli stuffed with cheese, bacon and meat. Rabbit with polenta was delicious. Wonderful food! Summary: you can see Bergamo in a day and its worth the trip

The city are 2 different cities in fact - on the hill there is historical Citta Alta with narrow streets, beautiful churches and a breathtaking view from the city walls and under the hill there is a modern Citta Bassa - full of shops, restaurants and hotels. You can travel between them comfortably with a bus or a railway.

The old town is filled with places to eat and things to do. If you enjoy walking and sightseeing Bergamo is the place to go. Easy access to and from the airport made the trip so relaxing. We tried La Vita and several of the other restaurants up the hill they were all excellent.
First of all very very friendly staff. Good vibes.
Clean and neat hotel & room.
Reasonable prices even at the vending machines.
Quiet and big room.
They have Chrome cast system, so fun streaming.
Bright and clean bathroom.
Good blackouts for sleeping.
Easy check in and out.
Free bag storage even before check in and after check out.
This was our second time in lovely Bergamo, 2 years ago we stayed on the way of Citta Alta. But I would definitely recommend this hotel who are looking for a nice and convenient stay.
The room was big and comfortable, we had to book it last minute and there was only a room for 2 with one double bed, and we were travelling with our 2 year old daughter, so we were 3, but the bed was big enough to sleep comfortably. There is a restaurant at the hotel, we didn't try it as we only were there one night but it had a nice menu and it was very convenient to have it at the hotel.
The location is very good, next to the train station, and to take the bus to the airport and to the old town (Bergamo alto)
A wonderful hotel set in beautiful countryside about a 20 minute walk from the Citta Alta. There is a free shuttle to get in and out of the city at set times, but also available at very reasonable price if needed at other times. The views and countryside around the hotel are stunning.
The family who run the hotel are so friendly and helpful, and able to give great local advice. There was a great choice of breakfast options and a well stocked mini bar in our room. If I get the opportunity I would stay again!
Location is just in the heart of citta alta, however, rooms are not looking at the busy street but across hereby it is quiet and one is able to relax.
Room is spacious, bed is comfortable and bathroom is bigger than what I have seen while travelling in Europe. Coffee machine in the room makes great espresso as you can expect for Italy. The ladies who work at the restaurant downstairs as well are super helpful and assist you with whatever is on your mind. Would definitely come back again when coming to Bergamo.
We had really good stay in Hotel Excelsior San Marco. It's easily accessible from train station and airport, in 10-20minutes you can get there by bus, from train station 15mins walking. Located just next to the Bergamo Alta, also 10-12mins walk. We got a room with Bergamo Alta view which was a nice add on. Good choice for breakfast, served as buffet. I would definitely recommend
highly recommend for couples and family great location near center and near old town it was my first trip to Italy and I can say I will comeback for sure .Very friendly welcoming on the apartment arrival Mrs Giovvana was very helpful telling us best locations to visit and eat …Apartment it was very clean and in new condition .Thank you Daniel and Giovvana for hosting us
Very nice place! Near to Airport. Very quiet area. Nicely designed B&B. Comfortable bed. Very clean. Nice kitchen area with coffee and snacks. Super host - very friendly and caring. We had really nice conversations about Italy with interesting facts. ;) Highly recommend if staying in Bergamo. Especially if flying early, 10 minutes from airport.
The hotel has a great location, helpful staff, it is clean and newly renovated. You can get the Bus N 1 from the Bergamo Airport almost straight to the hotel. Also the train station is only around 400 meters far in case you want to visit nearby cities (Milano, Como, etc.) by train. There are plenty of shops and restaurants around.
Perfect location in the heart of Bergamo Alta adjacent to the main square. It’s both a hotel and restaurant. Relatively spacious clean room with balcony with nice view. Staff friendly and helpful but checking out during lunch time can be hectic in combination with the restaurant.
Clean, exceptional clean. Everyday cleaning of the room.
Excellent position to walk to the downtown and to Città Alta, the main attraction of Bergamo.
Comfortable room.
Warm, it was in April and it was cold outside.
Easy check-in, easy to contact and discuss with the guest.
Owner is realy nice! He pick up us in airport in middle of night and gave us recommendations about city and restaurants! Very simple apartment but everything what you need after arriving in Bergamo. Very good choice starting your trip in Italy :)
Brand new and modern hotel with excellent location near train station and bus stop from airport. If you come lete need to pre-book late check in for additional costs, but anyway it is best choice we had in Bergamo.
The hotel is in an excellent location for all the delights of Bergamo Citta Alta. Our room was spacious and well equipped and the staff could not have been more helpful. Highly recommended.
Perfect location in Bergamo's Citte Alta! The staff were wonderful and the room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was lovely. I couldn't recommend the Hotel more; I hope to be back soon.
Most excellent loaction if you have limited time to spend in Bergamo. The hotel is just in the middle of old town, just step outside and you are in the middle of beauty and life.
Very simple check in using the app. Perfect localisation nearby city centre and bus stop from airport. Elegant room with nice bathroom. One of my best staying in Italy
The location in Bergamo Citta Alta is absolutely perfect, right by all the main areas of attraction. The hotel has been refurbished to a high spec, I loved it.
very comfy beds, silence, excellent location to reach Bergamo alta, perfect for the orio airport ( bus every 20 min), very professional and helpful staff
